Customer reviews
Iceland Photo Tours has long been the authority when it comes to capturing prize-worthy photographs of Iceland. Read through our customer reviews below to see why Iceland Photo Tours is your best choice for photography workshops in Iceland
This workshop was one if the finest and best organized that I have participated in. A good workshop guides it’s participants to the subjects and to the light, makes useful suggestions based on the leader’s experiences, and stretches the participants to become better than when they started—and our guides did a superb job of all of that. The accommodations were excellent, we were VERY well fed, and we were guided to a wide variety of subjects and light. The REAL mark of a good workshop leader is how he handles changing conditions—and in a most rare situation, we were faced with the forecast of a winter hurricane, in Iceland, the likes of which had not been seen since the “Perfect Storm” in 1991. Our guides handled the situation masterfully, maintaining our safety and comfort as paramount, while still affording us some interesting shooting opportunities to round out a most excellent workshop.
See Photo TourI want to thank our workshop leaders for organizing such a inspiring, fun and educational workshop . The workshop was very well organized, the itinerary was well thought out that gave us great photographic opportunities. Our guides provided excellent leadership, from knowing best times and locations to giving great advice on composition and camera settings to capture the mood. It was a wonderful experience that truly exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend these guys to anyone considering a future photography workshop or tour.
See Photo TourI am so glad that I have joined the Oct Photography Workshop in Iceland. The two instructors have provided sufficient guidance to each of us and care about the photos that we are taking. Their field advice was very useful, helped me improve the photos in particular the way of compositions. The workshop was well organized and the places we went for shooting are spectacular. This workshop not just offered me a great trip to explore the beautiful Iceland, it was also a good learning opportunity in the path of photography. The whole journey was filled with happiness and satisfaction, we bought back with nice photos and unforgettable experience.
See Photo TourBefore departure from HK, I was well informed already of what to bring and what to prepare. Indeed, it proved to be useful. Apart from the weather, all schedules were well controlled and monitored. Though I’m not the oldest, I could see all the seniors had sufficient rest, and prepared themselves perfectly for everyday’ expeditions. Food and accommodation were good. Person to person guidance of photo taking, to ensure that I had some good pics to shock my friends. The 2 sessions of lectures by the guides were most informative, something that I could be proud of to bring home. All and all, I would not hesitate to recommend these photo workshops to anyone, if you want to shoot good pics and learn photography. Thank you again.
See Photo TourWe really had a wonderful time joining your Iceland adventure! The landscape of Iceland is impressive, to me it was like stepping into a complete different world, just within 3 hours flight from the Netherlands. The lava fields, some completely covered with moss, ice caves, glaciers, icebergs floating to the sea, geysers, tectonic plates… beautiful! After the trip, we spent an afternoon in the geothermal water of the Blue Lagoon, really nice too.The group was fun, we enjoyed their company, and we appreciated the lodgings and the space we had in the bus to take our equipment with us. As a medical specialist, life can be very busy, and even during regular holidays my mind is regularly involved with my work. With this trip, however, I was busy the whole day with the new impressions and my attempts to capture them in photography. Also, it was a real joy for me to make this trip together with my two sons, Johan and Willem Pieter. That’s real quality time! Give our regards to Sigi, we enjoyed his humour in combination with his knowledge of history, architecture and geology. Wonder whether he will find the “ Wapen van Amsterdam” with its treasures in the end…. And finally, last but not least, you were a great guide and teacher. It is impressive how a few steps aside, a little lower or higher viewpoint, a slower shutter speed, composition of fore- and background can make such a difference. Thank you for this valuable information! I’m afraid I’ll still be an amateur in the end, but I enjoyed seeing how small adjustments can make such a difference. Thanks again for the great time, also on behalf of my sons,
See Photo TourMy wife Susan and I want to thank Iceland Photo Tours for providing the finest Photography Workshop we have attended. As novice photographers we found previous photography workshops and tours to be somewhat intimidating and overwhelming, the entire focus of our guides was to provide exceptional guidance and attention to the entire group during the workshop. The accommodations from start to finish were first rate, the food was exceptional, and the transportation was extremely comfortable with ample room for personal space and gear. Words cannot adequately describe the locations our guides selected for the workshop simply “MAGICAL”. We will attend future workshops and bringing friends. Thanks again for a great experience and stunning photographs. If you are thinking about going…you won’t regret it.
See Photo TourIn my recent trip, my first to join an organize tour entitled “Game of Thrones” It’s a tour design for photography. A well thought of design, timing for every locations. These guides have mastered these locations on its optimum time for you to shoot and they will bring you there. They are in 24/7 checking weather movements and discuss with the group that we have to divert from itinerary. These guides will deliver you to locations from sunrise, high twelve, sunset, to night shoots as to where your stamina for shooting can withstand. If you were not able to get good photos in this trip, then photography is not for you. Our hotels are in strategic location for the shooting with very good accommodation. Never been in a tour that I got to eat gourmet food for dinner. One thing I like about travelling with Iceland Photo Tours, they hate wasting time shopping but gave us time to get what we need. All those warm socks and believe me when you are in Iceland, you will need those made in Iceland, designed for Iceland.
See Photo TourTour experience with Iceland Photo Tours was truly exceptional, from food, accommodation and transportation. To be in the right place at the right time I think was the most important thing during this tour, and these two experienced professional landscape photographers know exactly how to redirect itineraries in case of severe weather conditions. I had a wonderful time together with the entire group capturing sceneries guided by pros. Guided tours such as this is highly recommended to maximize your benefits.
See Photo TourWhile I don’t consider a photo safari as a leisure vacation, there’s still a minimum level of comfort that I’d like to have in terms of accommodation, food and transportation. And on all three aspects, I rate this photo safari very satisfactory. Accommodations were all more than adequate providing very nice, quiet, clean, cozy, warm respite from the frigid outdoors. And I especially like the fact that these accommodations were all located within short driving distance from locations that we were going to photograph at sunrise &/or sunset /night. Food was nice! We had an interesting variety of food from deluxe burgers & fries to fancy grilled fish dishes – my favorite Arctic Char! Our transportation was a van that had ample room for luggage as well as passengers. I liked that it wasn't cramped. It’s a big plus to have two very experienced landscape photographers leading a photo safari such as this. Their itinerary is tailored to get you to great locations at the best possible light and their schedules are flexible enough to allow for changes in Iceland’s famously unpredictable weather. Although this was not a workshop, both our guides were very helpful in making sure we came out of each location with good photos. They gave us tips and reminders during our actual shoots. One guide reviewed our shots and walked us through post processing some of our own photos. All in all a very satisfying learning experience so I highly recommend these photo safaris &/or workshops!
See Photo TourI have been in many tours but this particular tour was really made for photographers. With ample time to photograph the scenes and also the proper timing in shooting these wonderful landscapes will make the experience worth it. The guides are very knowledgeable and assist us in shooting the location at the best possible conditions. Transportation and lodging is also pleasant and decent.
See Photo TourI would just like to extend my appreciation to Iceland Photo Tours and of course the tour group for the great time in Iceland. Even if the weather did not cooperate in some locations, the guides made it the most out of the situation. They monitored everything possible to see how to best maximize the shoot. On top of that, transportation and lodging were very comfortable, the food was fantastic, and the company was great!
See Photo TourIceland Photo Tours helped our group bring home wonderful images of Iceland and the Northern Lights. Thank you for showing so many wonderful locations. I will be back again.
See Photo TourI am writing to express my gratitude for the tour last week. What a fantastic place. From start to finish I was very impressed with the relaxed atmosphere you and Jonathon made for us. I also liked the way you tailored your approach to the individual and offered the right level of assistance and advice to each of us. I learned many small things at each location which I will take forward in my photography. The day to day plans were changed when the weather caused problems and you gave us good alternatives. My personal favourite of a very enjoyable week was the ice lagoon where the sun was going down. To sum up I would say – great locations, great accommodation, great food, great tour, thank you.
See Photo TourWell organised, friendly accommodation and lots of excellent tutoring at some superb locations. Highly recommended! We shall return next year in Iceland! See you again soon!
See Photo TourYou will never find a better tour guide than these. Our guides were a knockout-punch. Our itinerary was meticulous but adaptable, according to weather and photographic conditions. In Iceland photography is dependent on weather and time of sunrise and sunset. Our guides were scrupulous in planning, calculating, and adapting to where to be at the right time according to a multiplicity of changing factors. They were also superb at communicating daily timetables. Our bus was spacious, and our bus driver was a compendium of Icelandic history. I appreciate that with Iceland Photo Tours I was in a workshop . . . with emphasis on “work!”
See Photo TourThank you Iceland Photo Tours for showing me Iceland twice ! It was a privilege to be able to tour with the best Iceland photographers around today and with time I realize that most of the photos I display in my gallery I took them while shooting Iceland with you ! I also want to thank you for giving us unique access to fly over and photograph the Holuhraun volcano while it was erupting ! I plan to go back to Iceland many more times and hope to be able to go on tour with you again !
See Photo TourResearching my first trip to Iceland, one name kept coming up, and for good reason. Iceland Photo Tours' stunning photos speaks volumes for both their passion and technical expertise, but it is their calm and generous nature that makes them such an asset as photographic teachers, mentors, and guides. Having learnt so much on my first trip I promptly booked a second. Instantly I was rewarded on my second day as I captured images of a lifetime flying over a newly erupted volcano (thanks you!), however, my other memory of the day is witnessing our guides as excited as a child at Christmas, as they captured images that were shared by news agencies around the world. Having an instructor that still has their fire and passion is paramount.
See Photo TourI just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time on your Photo Workshop in Iceland! You gave us such amazing opportunities to see the spectacular landscape of Iceland, and even better – you taught us so much in order to compose and take a multitude of remarkable photos of our experience. We learned photo skills that have improved our photography by leaps and bounds! Your tour was well paced – we were busy the entire time and really felt that you maximized the time to see and photograph so many varied locations. With your co-guide Jonathan, we got excellent instruction and received the benefit of two different styles to further broaden our experience. The charming accommodations and entertaining bus driver Siggy were icing on the cake! Overall, I would say your Photo Workshop was AMAZING!! Thank you!
See Photo TourI joined the workshop with 3 friends. This is the best Iceland photo workshop I’ve ever had. Everything is so well organized. Everybody had at least 2 seats while I had 7 :). We all enjoyed the workshop very much and were very happy with what we learnt from the field and from the class. Both our guides were super in leading and organising the workshop.
See Photo TourI Recently completed a photography workshop in South Iceland led by Iceland Photo Tours . This caused me to contemplate the difference between a Photo Tour and a Photo Workshop. I have attended eight in total over the last 8 years, four of each. Photo Tours typically involves delivering a group of individuals to a scenic sight. Usually at an optimal time for photography (i.e golden hours) but involve limited guidance or instruction. The groups are larger, and much more varied in skill and experience. Photo Workshops more comprehensive instruction and field guidance in capturing the best possible images. In addition post processing is also part of the experience. My view of landscape photography is that of an art form which begins with identifying a sight, scouting the location, capturing the image, processing the image and final output whether to the web or print. The Photo Workshop which i recently attended which was put on by Iceland Photo Tours, was by far the best i have experienced. The scenery was spectacular, the itinerary was well thought out . The photo instruction and guidance was out standing. Both instructors were with us in the field and were there for our benefit, neither was shooting but instead their attention was on helping the participants capture the scenes, and improve our photography.
See Photo TourThe tour was superb! Extremely well organized, excellent transportation and guidance, flawless planning and useful hands-on and lecture instruction. Well received by all members of our Group! Would definitely repeat a tour with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourWant to make your photos pop? Are you willing to take your photography to the next level? Do you just need to escape to some place exotic & new? These photo tours offer just that with the convenience of transportation support, excellent lodging and great, local food options. Before, I had lots of trouble producing even a passable photo after a day of shooting, but after the workshop I learned how to actively find and work good angles for landscape photography. Also our guide's deep knowledge of how to post-process photos made the workshop a great value. Our guide also was very focused on our safety & didn't take unnecessary risks during our travels. I would definitely do another workshop with Iceland Photo Tours again.
See Photo TourWe have been on many photo tours through the years and thought we had seen to best. Wrong! Iceland Photo Tours set up a tour which far exceeded any expectations we might have had. Everything was meticulously planned…lodging, food, transportation, and locations were all first rate. The bus was even large enough for us all to have 2 seats each! The level of attention that our guides provided was outstanding. All in all this was a very memorable trip, and we certainly would recommend Iceland Photo Tours for any Icelandic photo trip you may be contemplating.
See Photo TourIceland Photo Tours truly cares about helping photographers discover Iceland (and other lands), because they're so passionate about it themselves. A photographic guide with a personal involvement in the process of creating great and strong images is what every photographer should seek in a photo tour. In addition to great photos, these guides really care about making their clients happy too, because in sometimes-intensive trips, positive group dynamics is key. As a result, they have many returning clients, and that’s the ultimate mark of a good trip.
See Photo TourWorking with Iceland Photo Tours is simply a pleasure. They have immense experience in guiding and know how to make the best out of any situation or weather conditions. Always cheerful, obliging and outgoing, I’m extremely happy that I chose them to guide my workshops with me, and I’m sure we’ll be cooperating for years to come. Thank you Iceland Photo Tours, for being an amazing associate and friend.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of working with Iceland Photo Tours last summer in Greenland. Even in the most challenging environment the organization was excellent and our guide was on top of things. In remote parts of Greenland being able to adapt to the ever changing environmental conditions is an essence and the team managed this superbly.
See Photo TourI was very fortunate & privileged to join Iceland Photo Tours on one of their recent expeditions to Greenland’s East Coast in one of the most isolated places on earth, the fiords of Scoresby Sund. Your guide's knowledge of this stunning place will see you get close to an environment that reveals unforgettable vistas such as mammoth icebergs in a very fragile terrain. This part of Greenland should be on every Landscape Photographers list of destinations who want to witness and document the impact of climate change.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of Joining Iceland Photo Tours on a recent winter tour. The entire event was expertly planned, with excellent accommodations and great food. Transportation was provided in a converted truck that was both functional and comfortable. Our driver was not only an expert driver, but was also pleasant and accommodating. Our guides proved to be knowledgeable in photography as well as the locations and the best ways to get amazing shots. They emphasized safety at each location which was appreciated. Their sense of humor and positive disposition were a plus. We had a great group of photographers which made the whole event better. Looking forward to the next trip.
See Photo TourThanks Iceland Photo Tours for your expert knowledge of Iceland. This was no ordinary tour but rather a very unique look at Iceland. One that in many respects was a ‘behind the scenes’ tour that the average tourist simply does not see. Photographically it was very rich with many opportunities set up especially for us. The group was small which maximized the experience and gave one-on-one access to my and your knowledge of photography and Iceland. We had privileged access to waterfalls, Ice caves and on a number of occasions to Northern Lights. We also had access to good accommodation and great food. Thank you again for your expertise and for showing us the unknown and exclusive areas of Iceland. The images are stunning and will travel again with you.
See Photo TourThere are many great landscape photography locations around the world, but few that combine such stunning diversity with ease of accessibility as Iceland, making it a great place to practice your craft of photography. The guides at Iceland Photo Tours have spent more time guiding in Iceland than Columbus spent at sea! Not only are they now very familiar with Iceland’s photographic locations but they are experts with the camera, and knowing how to teach techniques they have applied in their own stunning photography. I highly recommend working with them, if not only for improving your photographic skills for landscape photography but making the best “selfies” possible
See Photo TourI have worked with hundreds of guide and photographers over the years. Iceland Photo Tours sits at the top of the heap, for sure. As guides, they take pride in knowing exactly where to put your tripod, and at what time, to get the best shot of the amazing landscape. They are meticulous in their handling of details ahead of time, with hotels, food, transportation, all logistics – so that the photo tour or workshop you are on runs as smoothly as possible. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with them over the past few years for our workshops in Iceland, and having been completely thrilled with everything in the past, I’m looking forward to many more photo workshops with Iceland Photo Tours in the future. Oh and let’s not forget that the guides are incredibly talented photographers, making imagery that is visually stunning on a daily basis.
See Photo TourI had the opportunity to work with Iceland Photo Tours in November. when we put on a Photo Tour in Iceland. The emphasis was on capturing the ice formations in southern Iceland including the beach at Glacier Lagoon, ice-caves and with hopes of photographing the Aurora Borealis. We got it all thanks to them. Since our guides are very familiar with Iceland and also are incredible photographers, they knew where to be and when. They'd made all of the arrangements, hotels, meals and transportation so all I had to do was show up with the clients and enjoy. I look forward to working with him again next time I make it back to Iceland.
See Photo TourOver the last 10 years I have organized nearly a hundred photography workshops around the world – in Africa, Cuba, South America, Tibet, China, Nepal, the Himalayas, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, and North Korea. This year I wanted to expand my workshops into the Arctic and Scandinavian regions, and I was introduced to Iceland Photo Tours by a common photographer friend from the Philippines. The moment I saw their photos I knew they were the team that I want to work with. Their photos are Nat Geo standard. And the locations they bring their clients to, are places only photographers know about. It isn't enough to simply know where good photography locations are. They have an uncanny photographer’s eye to select compelling viewpoints, and also the technical skills to make these viewpoints sing a beautiful visual song. You only have to view their photos online to realize what I mean. They have a fan base of hundreds of thousands around the world. And they are unselfish about sharing their skills with all who attend their workshops.I first brought my international clients for a joint photography workshop with Iceland Photo Tours in April. It was so popular that it was oversubscribed, and in May we had to run another joint workshop to cater for the excess. My clients and I were so impressed with their handling of the workshop, and the locations we were taken to, that when they discovered that I was working with them to do a third and a fourth workshop in Iceland and Greenland respectively, several of them immediately signed up for the new workshops. Needless to say, I too was very impressed with their professional photography and organizational skills that I have committed for another year, at least another 3 joint workshops with them in Iceland, Greenland, and Norway.
See Photo TourI have had the privilege of working with Iceland Photo Tours in both Iceland and Greenland. As a photographer’s guide there is no one better. Their ability to find the explicit in the implicit takes you on a journey that will leave you breathless. Their attention to detail in both the planning of a tour, the locations selected and the storylines that are there for the capture are meticulous to the final element. I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the best photographers in the world and I believe that all would agree that if you’re heading to the Arctic region, looking to capture stellar imagery, Iceland Photo Tours is your guide.
See Photo TourOur winter Iceland tour was a great success due to your knowledge of Iceland geography and landscape locations. Your technical skills and teaching were easy to understand. I was able to take a number of photo items off of my bucket list, such as ice caves, northern lights, as well as the ice beach at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. You also showed us a beautiful location that required special permission to access. The meals, lodging, and transportation were first class. A very well organized tour. Well done, Iceland Photo Tours!
See Photo TourI first met Iceland Photo Tours during my first visit to Iceland, since then they have become one of best guides in the country. Since then I have traveled with them to Norway, back to Iceland and most recently our Autumn visit to New Zealand. I think what made the relationship click is that we both understood the work that it takes to capture great images taken at the right time, and we like to have fun as well during downtime. From Manila, Philippines to Reykjavik, Iceland a lifelong connection was cast in stone. I recommend Iceland Photo Tours above everyone else!
See Photo TourIceland was all you promised and more – faultless organisation with the mechanics of getting us around in a frenetic environment, excellent accommodation and a thoughtful tasty array of meals to demonstrate the variety of foods available in this surprising country. Towering over these mundane but essential aspects of travel was the photography. Unique scenes hit daily, from costal scenes the likes of which I have not seen before, to Icebergs on the black beach of the southern coast of Iceland. We were most fortunate to be taken by knowledgeable person like you to sites that were special. My special thanks to you Iurie for your guiding, driving and in special for sharing so generously your favourite places in the most dramatic light of the mead night summers. I look forward for my return to Iceland to travel with you and my group again.
See Photo TourI recently joined Iceland Photo Tours to sail through the longest fiord in the world, in East Greenland. This was my first-ever participation in an organized tour after more than thirty five years of independent world travel. I was totally satisfied with all aspects of the voyage, the organization and attention to detail by our guides was five stars. I highly recommend Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourWith this once in a lifetime chance, it is important that you partner with a guide who understands your need as a landscape photographer. One who understands that the right light is a basic component in getting that shot. Iceland Photo Tours brings you to these places in the right time and the right moment. Shooting epic locations during sunrise and sunset, maximizing schedules that would leave you enough energy to capture also the greatest atmospheric phenomena, the Northern Lights. Being a well-traveled photographer, I always believe that no matter how much you research on locations it always a good advice to coordinate and work with local photographers. Their experiences shooting their own territory will never replace the hours of research you make trying to photograph these locations. The tour was tailored made not for any tourist but for photographers. The itinerary is direct to the point and is well timed; it provides enough shooting time and does not compromise creativity. The partner hotels and restaurants are more than decent and provide excellent service. Comfort is also well thought in terms of transportation, the long drives are provided with local information on the area. If you are planning a trip to this place, I suggest you save yourself from sleepless hours researching and buying those e-books, with safety and worry free tours, you can concentrate more on how you can capture the moment. Iceland Photo Tours go beyond expectations.
See Photo TourTaking a workshop with Iceland Photo Tours is my first experience in terms of photography workshops, as I’ve always traveled on my own to take pictures. But after seeing their photos and their tour around Iceland, I decided that I wanted to do it. So I jumped on board excited to have the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights and of going to a country with such amazing scenery. I have to say that I had a good time with our guide trotting around Iceland. He was fun and attentive, and he will take you to the good spots in Iceland whilst giving you good tips to improve your landscape photography. And when the weather is not that easy on you, he’s always there to help you with some post-processing :). Overall, an excellent tour, during which you’d be taken care of by staying at cozy and warm hotels, where there will be no shortage of good food to combat Icelandic cold.
See Photo TourAfter researching a photo trip to Iceland for about a year I came across Iceland Photo Tours. All communications and transactions with them were timely and most professional. As most people would a little apprehensive traveling to another country and not knowing what to expect, I have to say I don’t believe I could have been in better hands. I thought the price was very reasonable considering they saw to every detail from transportation to food and lodging from beginning to end. Not to mention the incredible photo locations! A one word summation “Quality”.
See Photo TourWe went on 2 photo tours with Iceland Photo Tours at the beginning of December and had a magical time. They knew exactly where to take us. We had a great guide and amazing photographer too. We went to places we would never have found without them and with their super car, we felt very safe driving along the snowy roads and they were more than happy to explain what all the random buildings and things were that we were pointing out as well as telling us about life in Iceland and the customs and history. Iceland photo tours were very good at advising us of the best places to visit and were super friendly, they helped me so much along the way by responding to my emails of endless questions really quickly. I would highly recommend them and will be looking forward to my next trip to Iceland and adventures with them.
See Photo TourWould the sun rise after so brief a night? Our guide stood behind me and we spoke of polarization and neutral density and long exposures. Each element of the scene I could not yet see, our guide described not as it was in the darkness, but as it would be at that “decisive moment” of sunrise. Your guide can see into that future and provide you with the opportunity to create the photograph of your life time. A photo adventure that will be at the top of your portfolio for the rest of your life. Iceland. Iceland Photo Tours will reveal its secrets to you. I will return.
See Photo TourI have signed up for multiple photographic tours and there is always a sense of unknown expectations and professionalism. However, Iceland Photo Tours is a winner! We found ourselves in a comfortable and well organized environment with professional photographers whom got us to the right places at the right times. Our guides were highly skilled photographers and were always there to give any help if we needed it. We travelled in a comfortable bus and stayed at great hotels. Iceland is so photographic that I plan on returning for another trip.
See Photo TourExpectations exceeded and throughly impressed. With only 5 hours of daylight in the winter, the tour itinerary was designed with such meticulous planning which demonstrated great foresight and flexibility. We were able to roll with the Icelandic temperamental weather punches with backup plans after backup plans that ensured we got to where we wanted when we needed the light. The fact that it was a 30 plus seater bus for the 12 of us shows the unparalleled insight of photographers needing a ton of space for the incredible amount of photographic, winter and rain gear. My main focus this trip was to witness and hopefully capture the northern lights and even as an amateur, or rather, a person with a causal interest in photography who do not feel suited for the term “Photographer”, (I was a rare anomaly in the group as I observed, everyone else was decked out and fired up) I was given the same amount of attention, photographing tips and personal coaching on how to use my camera to photograph the Auroras and stars as the rest of the group. Iurie and Jon even offered up their camera (with my memory card in it) to tinkle, practice what I’ve learnt and capture the northern lights with when my own was not up to snuff. That I greatly appreciated. Though I don’t recommend future participants relying on that as it’s meant to be a last resort. The auroras are elusive enough, if you get lucky enough to have a strong night, don’t waste that chance. The hotels and their location were chosen with the needs of a photographer in mind, the meals were vacation-worthy and some of the places were probably local secrets with nay a typical selfie stick tourist in sight. Hence the sights were absolutely astounding and plus the fact you get a non-typical-tourist amount of time at the location to set up and photograph or wander and explore new angles, it’s a Creative’s dream vacation.
See Photo TourJust came back from Iceland where I took the winter Photo Tour. Bottom line: Way beyond my expectations! The thorough knowledge of the amazing Iceland landscape, his professionalism and sense of camaraderie were outstanding. The accommodations and meals were very good. The guides takee personal interest in each and every member of the group, regardless of whether he/she is an amateur or a professional photographer. Their sense of humor is a big plus. They are also a master of post-processing and are always ready to share their knowledge with individual members of the group.
See Photo TourThis was one of the best photo workshops I have been on. The places we went to were spectacular, as to be expected, but beyond the vistas, the level of professionalism and mentor-ship was second to none. Time was taken to help every student improve in composition and to see the environment in a new way despite difficult lighting conditions. There is no doubt that I improved as a photographer. The tour was very photographer specific with tons of time given to fully explore an area. There was no feeling of being rushed at all.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of attending the winter workshop with Iceland Photo Tours. The workshop was excellent, exceeded my initial expectations and it was definitely a week that will never be forgotten. Our guide was very professional and a modest person and I admire his relentless pursuit of the group satisfaction. Even after being able to successfully see the auroras he kept on trying to go out to see them again on the next days (when meteorological conditions allowed) and we saw them, not once, not twice but in three different nights. He’s also very concerned about people safety and would not sacrifice it for the sake of a nice or funny shot. I felt prepared, even in the most adverse conditions on the field, thanks to the information provided by our guide prior to departure regarding clothing and equipment. I enjoyed Siggi, the bus driver, which is actually more like a co-guide with all his knowledge on history, architecture, culture and his unique humour. The editing session was adequate both for beginner and advanced users and I learned techniques that I developed right away. This is definitely a photo workshop, not a photo tour, and sometimes you even feel you’re in a unique expedition. I would do it all over again, and I’m pretty sure I will come back for another workshop with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourI joined the Winter Aurora Photo Workshop in December with a thrill of excitement and anticipation. This was because it was my first time in Iceland and was also the first time that I signed up for the tour dedicated to photography. Having attend the workshop, all I can say is that it was a remarkable experience, and everything surpassed all of my expectations. I was truly impressed by the services provided by our instructors, as well as our bus driver. They took us to many scenic locations, weather permitting, to capture one-of-a-kind landscapes that Iceland has to offer. Besides, customers’ safety was always be their prime concern, and everyone in my group was always in their great care. During the workshop, both our guides didn’t hesitate to share their experiences and a lot of technical knowledge about landscape photography, all of which was a real boon to all levels of photographers. Furthermore, the accommodation, the food and the vehicles were really great. I would like to thank our guides for this amazing trip. My photo skills have improved since the first day of the workshop. I have got quite a few of good photographs as souvenirs for myself, and the whole experience will last in my memories forever. Couldn't have done that without you guys. I will be back for sure!!… PS. For those who are still considering, please sign up for their photo workshop(s) now, and you won’t be disappointed.
See Photo TourMy first trip to Iceland following winter photo tour with you was so perfect. It really over my expectation , I got extra ordinary photos specially the aurora and icy beach and incredible winter experience in Iceland. Something that I really impressed was how you and Jonathan lead the group and teach us in photography. You and Jonathan really support the participants one to one to make the best photo in that tour. Also you really care with safety.., and understand very well about timing and weather condition. It really make us feel safe. Thank you so much. Great trip with both of you in Iceland.
See Photo TourIn December I joined a Winter Aurora Workshop. It was my first time in Iceland and my first dedicated photo tour as well. The expectations was quite high, especially after a grey and boring autumn back in Sweden, and I was hoping for nice weather and good photo conditions. It doesn't start so well, my flight couldn't land in Reykjavik because of hard wind and blizzards so it took me half a day extra to finally get there. The morning after the fog made everything white. But Iceland has a fast changing weather and in time for our first stop we saw the sky again. After that it only gets better and our guides took us to some amazing places and we got perfectly sunny winter days, beautiful sunsets, clear night skies filled with stars and Auroras and even some more snow and rain. Regardless the weather, our guides took us to the best photographic places that the condition allowed and they constantly gave good advices and sharing their knowledge about landscape photography to everyone. Everything from composition and good camera settings to post-processing and clothing. And thanks to the information we got before the trip, everyone seemed well prepared for all activities. In conclusion, I had a wonderful time with the group in Iceland, good food, excellent guides, lots of new experience and I got fantastic photographs with me home to Sweden that will be a pleasure to talk about and show for friends. I will return to Iceland and gladly join another workshop in Iceland, or anywhere on earth.
See Photo TourJoining this winter tour of Iceland has allowed me to improve my landscape photographic skills in a stunning and challenging environment. The tour was managed in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for an adventure and want to take their photography landscape skills to the next level. Highlight of the tour was the ice cave and the ice beach.
See Photo TourThe winter tour was beyond amazing! We saw stunning waterfalls, ice caves, northern lights, black sand beach, glacier lagoon and more. Our guide's intimate knowledge of Iceland makes all the difference – they know where to go and at what time. This comes in handy when plans have to change due to weather conditions. Our guide handles the tour with meticulous detail, care and sound judgment, while being flexible when necessary. Thanks to our guide's detailed instructions on what gear to purchase, the cold weather and safety was a moot point. As a result, I was able to truly enjoy Iceland’s beauty and photography. Our guide is also a great teacher. He teaches with a refreshing combination of clarity, simplicity and sense of humor. It was a treat to learn from him. Iceland is stunning; but the company of our guide and cool people on the tour made it even more special. Simply incredible!
See Photo TourThese days photography enthusiasts pay a lot of money to participate in organized photography workshops. Thus, they can and do expect a lot: Perfect organization, very good hotels, excellent food, security and of course to be at the right hot spots at the right time. In addition, I wanted to learn how to improve photography. If you expect similar things and like the shots of the instructors, then I can strongly recommend you the southern Iceland workshop. Although the weather conditions were difficult during our workshop, our instructors managed it to make it a wonderful experience. I can definitely recommend everyone to ask them as many questions as possible and actively use the time. The outcome is very much dependent on your own engagement. I enjoyed the time a lot, have made new friends and have created moments of long lasting memories.
See Photo TourI came upon these workshops in Iceland by accident while planning a trip there independently but soon came to realize that this was exactly what I was looking for. Being new to serious landscape photography (coming from a fine art/documentary background), I thought it a good idea to travel with those who knew how to safely handle the terrain, to capture it and who could place me exactly where I needed to be. What I got in return was more than I expected in more ways than one. The trip was meticulously planned with the only disruptions being those from natural weather forces, which in Iceland cannot be helped, it actually added to the adventure. Both our guides were a pleasure to be around and intuitively knew what each of us needed to further our photography, in my case this was space, lots of it!. I had the time and freedom to really soak up the atmosphere and begin to work out how I could visually translate that into imagery. I was hoping for an adventure to rekindle a lost spark for photography and what I got was a visual feast of mass proportion. I am excited to have reclaimed my expression with a camera in this new and refreshed way and that i’s with thanks to everyone who was with us and your trip. Thanks everyone!
See Photo TourFor my first trip in Iceland, I had the chance to select a photographic workshop led by Iceland Photo Tours. This workshop exceeded all my expectations and it’s being personally a life changing experience. This workshop offers the best overall combination of photographic experience, location selection, photographic advices and side by important features such as food, accommodation… In addition our guide is a top-end photographer but will share his knowledge with modesty. If you are looking for the perfect photographic workshop, don’t look any further! Iceland Photo Tours has the solution for you!
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of joining an Iceland Winter Workshop in February and was not disappointed. The itinerary is well structured and very organised. The schedule is strictly adhered to, and downtime is minimised, which was greatly appreciated. Workshops have a limited number of participants, a great feature. Aurora hunting is a mind blowing experience – if this is on your bucket list? Just do it. We were most fortunate to catch the aurora every night, and each experience out did the one from the night before. Our guide followed his client’s needs with respect to their wishes. You can get as much or as little assistance as your want or require. I loved this about the workshops….there was no pressure. Our guide knows the island – it seemed to me that it was all about chasing the light, the aurora and getting your money’s worth by visiting the most amazing spots on earth. I was enormously impressed with all features of this workshop. Great people, great photographic opportunities and the trip of a lifetime. I went home loaded with couple thousand photos, some of them stunningly beautiful. I learned an enormous amount in one week and look forward to joining the Norway workshop in January 2016.
See Photo TourWinter Photo Workshop Tour of Iceland – what can I say – it was splendid. Our guide got us to some incredible places at the best of times – dragging us out of bed after a late night of aurora shooting. He must have had some special connections as we had great aurora. The ice caves, the ice beach, the food, the accommodation and of course the guidance. Not to be missed
See Photo TourThe tour was fantastic! The locations were spectacular, with great accommodation and transport to boot. Most importantly the guidance offered by both our guides was open and forthcoming. They were always available to share experience in the locations to make the most out of your time. Iceland is a fantastic location, if your reading this don’t hesitate to visit!
See Photo TourThank you to our guides for your knowledge, kindness and patients.I came on the workshop to get great photo of the Aurora and to learn more about the camera. To move from taking snap shots to becoming a photographer.I am not yet there but you have opened up the photographer within me.At first I was totally out of my depth, by the end I could understand so much more. Being a photographer is a constant learning curve. I am up to the challenge.
See Photo TourThe Winter Photography Workshop was awesome. Our guide really knows all the great spots and what we are looking for. He is always careful with safety and weather conditions. The hotel and guesthouses were all great, well located, comfortable, excellent food. It was my first trip to Iceland and I chose winter time because there were chances to see the Aurora Borealis. And we did see the Aurora Borealis several times during our workshop.
See Photo TourI set of my trip based on the amazing pictures of the Iceland Photo Tours gallery expecting to learn from their photographer talent. What I discovered is that they are not only great photographers but they are also excellent tour organizers and very nice! I came back with much more than expected: improved photography skills, amazing pictures, great souvenirs and last but not the least great friends. I am already preparing my next tour with Iceland-photo-tours!
See Photo TourI had wanted to come out to Iceland for a while now but was unsure on who to book the trip with. In the end i chose a trip led by Iceland Photo Tours mainly because i liked the style of their Photographs. And I couldn’t have been happier with the decision, from the start to the end of the tour everything was planed and run so you don’t need to worry about anything apart from taking the shots.Great food, great hotels, transport around the Island in a spacious coach with plenty of room to leave most of your kit inside the coach and carry only the items you will need for any given location. During the trip our guides were all ways on hand to help with advise and tips at the locations and would all ways be looking at the weather trying to maximize your shooting time by going to the locations that had the best light where possible. So if you are looking at photographing Glacial Lagoons, mountains, waterfalls, lava fields and much much more then look no further. Would i book again, yes I am all ready in the process of booking another trip for later in the year which is testament in itself.
See Photo TourI have known for many years that I wanted to visit Iceland but it was your images and the opportunity to travel and learn with your tour and group that moved me to sign up and I could not be happier that I did. There were several factors that guided me to commit to your trip including access to some of the most beautiful places; ability to meet and share the experience with the other folks from around the world who joined us; opportunity to learn from you and the team on the trip photographically and from an adventure travel stand point. We experienced more than our share of good luck with the extraordinary Northern Lights display in Hali and good conditions in many other spots given the forecasts. The organization and accommodations were great and the camaraderie with the group made it an even better experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is photographically serious about experiencing the beauty of this “off the charts” beautiful place.
See Photo TourI just came back from my first photo trip. I always wanted to be part of a photo-workshop, but I was not really sure on who to book the workshop with. After I discovered Iceland Photo Tours, I booked a trip, because I REALLY liked the style of their pictures. The trip was VERY WELL ORGANIZED by both guides of this tour. They provided an incredible and useful input on all aspects of photography (e.g. composition, filter-knowledge, camera-settings, post-processing, etc.). I also learned a lot from the other participants about photography, during this trip and beside of that, we JUST had a REALLY GOOD time together. It was an amazing experience. Thanks to everybody!
See Photo TourJust had an amazing week in Iceland with Iceland Photo Tours. I can’t say enough about it and highly recommend it. My friend Janice and I wanted to learn landscape photography and landed on his site. Not only did we learn tons but came home with stunning photos of glacier lagoon, northern lights, waterfalls, sunsets sunrises… Met amazing people from around the world and got inspired by everyone’s talent. Thank you so much for everything. Our guide was a true professional, great tour guide and in awe of their talent. Appreciate everything they shared with us.
See Photo TourFantastic photo tour! This was not my first participation in a photo tour, but this tour is certainly in the top 3! Tips and tricks, in the field instructions & workshops on landscape photography & post processing! All accommodation is TOP, the group was amazing and the food…yup very good…and one hell of a bus driver…:):):) Iceland is THE landscape photography country and I definitely go back.
See Photo TourI always wanted to see the northern lights, after reading an article on 500px website I realised that it would be shame to go that far, see something so wonderful and miss out of lack experience or knowledge on how to get the right shoot. Our guides made my northern light experience memorable not only in mind but also in a perfect photo, this and many other photos that I didn’t even consider myself to be taking. I learned a lot about landscape photography and post production that I already find useful in my own niche of photography. Putting the photography experience aside, everything else in this trip was planned at top level, from food, locations, accommodation and the flexibility of the team, when something unique like Seals, or horses, or deer appeared – we were there, ready to shoot! Thanks again!
See Photo TourI attended the Iceland winter photography workshop in February. Everything from lodging, meals and transportation was perfectly organized and comfortable. Our guides were always available to help and provide great advice on technique and composition. I had a lot of fun and actually learned a LOT from this workshop. Our guide is a master of photography, great planner and all around nice person. I look forward to taking other workshops with the team.
See Photo TourOur most recent trip was to Iceland, the mysterious Land of Fire and Sun. We were most fortunate to have Iceland Photo Tours to mentor and guide us during the photo tour. We hate taking tours but when you venture into new weather conditions and new place with limited time, I guess it is best to get help from the experts with good local knowledge. Hence we did some research and have no regrets to go on such an adventure with this photo tour. It was an awesome winter photography workshop in a out-of-this-world kind of place. Our group consisted of 13 people from all over the world and we had two guides and a driver. Logistics were smooth, food and accommodation good, company and morale great and most importantly we were at the right place at the right lighting conditions. Both our guides were keen to impart their knowledge and very helpful with tips and guidance on equipment, alternative point of views in the extreme weather conditions. For those of you out there still thinking about making such a trip to Iceland, just do it and I strongly recommend to do it with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourWe had an amazing talented and truly Icelandic photography guide . And who better to show you around beautiful North Iceland then someone knows all the ins and outs, telling stories along the way about fishing, camping and the annual Réttir just to name a few. Our guide's passion for the area shines as he takes you to places where the light and aurora will be best. He shows you techniques to make the most of it so you come home with amazing photographs. And at midday when the light is too harsh for typical landscape photography he would take us to caves, near horses or on hikes – never a dull moment. Our guide is a great listener and makes dreams come true. This trip is all inclusive which takes all the stress away and if you happen to get lucky and stay at Hotel Framnes in Snaefelsness the food is AMAZING
See Photo TourI have just returned from a photo Tour of North Iceland in the Winter with our guide. We were lucky enough to have one glorious night of the Aurora which completed our trip nicely. Our guide was a true light chaser. He got us to every potential situation to maximize our opportunity to capture sunrises, sunsets and Aurora’s. He is extremely knowledgeable as a photographer and gave us many pointers on maximizing our skills as photographers. Being a native Icelander he knows a lot about the life and landscapes of Iceland. He was able to share with us stories about the culture and customs of Iceland including Icelandic culinary dishes and the not to be missed Porramatur.
See Photo TourMy trip to Greenland with Iceland Photo Tours was amazing. Our guide was so helpful, very knowledgeable, and you are guarantee to see some amazing places! They really go an extra mile to make sure you are getting the right images. They are one of a kind and an awesome photographer!
See Photo TourI just completed the winter photo workshop in Iceland with Iceland Photo Tours. What a fantastic experience! Even though the weather did not always cooperate, our guides took every opportunity to maximize the workshop as a learning experience by including extremely valuable classroom sessions that featured many tips and tricks for creating and processing spectacular photographs. When our group with shooting, our guides were not; instead, they were working with all student participants on a one-on-one basis teaching us to optimize camera angles, composition and exposure, as well as how to overcome challenging light and weather conditions. The accommodations and the food were first rate, and I learned as much about Icelandic culture as I did the rugged beauty of its scenic landscape. Thank you!
See Photo TourHaving just completed the Winter Photo Tour. Our guide was keen to ensure everyone was well prepared ahead of the trip and he has a meticulous attention to detail whilst on the tour with comfortable accommodation and transportation planned throughout. Both our guides are excellent photographers and inspirational motivators who worked hard to help us capture both the scene but also learn new techniques as well. Despite some rather bad weather on our tour they worked hard to get us to the best possible locations at any time and make the best of the scene. It was also refreshing to meet guides who often wouldn't take images at locations other than to demonstrate a point. The lecture sessions provided were also similarly well planned and left you wanting to go out and try the techniques shown; the provision of all the materials on a USB drive was an added benefit. I always ask myself after any trip would I go back again, the answer is yes without a moments hesitation.
See Photo TourIceland Photo Tours run a very well organized tour. We were all very prepared for the weather conditions with the list provided by the company. The hotels, meals, and bus were very well organized and pleasant and the accommodations were great. Even though the weather did not cooperate with our trip, they still provided us with a tremendous amount of technical guidance as well as great field instruction. Thanks to our guides, I learned so much! Thanks for the unforgettable experience!
See Photo TourWe loved our Northern Lights and Ice Cave Photo Workshop in Iceland. We expected an adventure and we got that and more. In spite of the weather we managed to visit some incredible sites, on the Island, and photograph them. The Ice Cave was awesome, unbelievable beautiful. The Geyser shot up five stories high in seconds. It came so quick it was a challenge to photograph it, but worth the effort. The Ice Glaziers were remarkable. We have never seen one before and seeing them floating and photographing them up close was worth the trip. They were on the beach with the black volcanic sand and made unique and awesome photos. The incoming waves also made gorgeous photos as the waves receded against the black volcanic sand. The Aurora Borealis managed only a two minute showing and disappeared before we could get set up. Having two professionals educate us on the fine points of photography was very helpful. They both knew the setups and features for every type of camera we had. The training classes and critiques of our photos was very helpful. The food was great. The accommodations were good. The bus was outstanding. It had lots of room, two seats per person one to sit in the other for your equipment.
See Photo TourMy recent trip to Iceland for the Aurora Photo workshop truly surpassed my expectations! The views of course were true perfection but the support of the Instructors truly amazed me. To be able to share his vision of his art to all of us truly amazed me. Seeing how he saw the perfect spot to shoot wonderful photos while making this pure enjoyment at the same time is an art in itself. The techniques of mastering the right light and use of color were of immense help not only to me in shooting landscape photography but in any type of shooting I may do. His patience and making this a wonderful experience should also be noted and instead of making this all about a workshop. Although a wonderful learning experience it was also the most fun I’ve had on any vacation I’ve ever had. The skills I have learned I can’t possible put a price on as I found them invaluable. I so enjoyed it I plan on joining him next year in New Zealand. If I could I would return to this very same workshop year after year after year. And, I just might. Thank you Iceland Photo Tours! Mere words can’t express my gratitude.
See Photo TourI recently completed the Photo Workshop by Iceland Photo Tours. It was professionally and meticulously planned and executed. The spacious bus. the accommodations, the food and most important; the instruction and itinerary were top notch. It was the first workshop I have ever attended. It exceeded my expectations. The co-guide and Instructor brought creativity, insight, and practical knowledge that was a great benefit. He took the time to answer questions, help us individually while we were out in in the field. Our guides had us well set-up for the tour. I used every piece of equipment, clothing and accessories that he told us to bring. His list was very detailed and specific; very much needed and appreciated. The sites were stunning, the trip was an adventure. The Ice-Cave guide, the Driver of the large bus were top-notch too. Our guides had all the bases covered. Despite Rough weather we got to our destinations, mostly in part because of the quality of the people that Iceland photo Tours chooses. Thank-you for an unforgettable tour that left me wanting to come back again.
See Photo TourI just returned from a winter photo workshop in Iceland. This was my first ever photography workshop. I typically like to travel solo and plan everything myself, but I am SO glad I decided to try this! It was much more relaxing to have all the logistics expertly planned by our guides. Everything was great, from our spacious bus with professional driver, to the accommodations, to the 3 course meals every evening. Not to mention the photography knowledge that I was able to gain from both our guides. They were both a pleasure to travel and shoot with! We were also at a distinct advantage travelling with a local photographer who knew where to go and when. The highlight of the trip were the 5 hours we spent photographing a spectacular Northern Lights show at various locations. It was truly an experience I will remember forever.
See Photo TourThank you Iceland Photo Tours for guiding the best photo tour in Iceland. The photos we took and the memories we shared during the trip are irreplaceable, with that being said and done, these were only the photos we have. The best part was gaining a good friend and a great photographer up in Iceland! Hope to see you again soon in our future trips! Thanks!
See Photo TourThe scenery was sublime, the company was spectacular and the cuisine, absolutely divine …Iceland tours are absolutely the only way I would go to visit and photograph Iceland. They know where to take their group and when to catch the beautiful light that showcases the wild frontier that is Iceland. Aside from the learning that is part of this adventure, you develop a camaraderie with your fellow photographers who share their knowledge with you. I would not hesitate recommending this trip to the avid and adventurous photographer.
See Photo TourOur guides provided me with a lifetime of fantastic memories during the recent winter photo workshop I attended in Iceland. Furthermore, the expert photography technique guidance, post processing secret hints and tips were simply outstanding, both in the field and in the lectures we received. On a personal level, our guides both are professional but yet very personable, funny, polite, kind and were extremely helpful on countless occasions. Our group dynamic was amazing, given the many different backgrounds, photography skill levels and cultures. Our guides managed every aspect of this trip with great skill and with our success for great images as the driving factor. Our driver and bus were excellent, navigating bad weather with skill and even cleaning all of the bus windows during one fuel stop. Although I have no prior experience with photo workshops, I cannot imagine that I could “top” this one, and will without hesitation attend another workshop with Iceland Photo Tours in the future.
See Photo TourWe are happy to have joined Iceland Photo Tours for our first visit to Iceland. The weather in Iceland can be challenging at times with high winds, rain or snow. Despite the conditions, we were able to capture South Iceland’s raw beauty – amazing ice cave, mystical aurora, dramatic black sand beaches, ice covered waterfalls, expansive glaciers, beautiful sunrise and sunsets, gentle Icelandic horses and of course many stunning landscapes. Our guide satisfied our appetite to photograph by getting us to the right places at the right times. While doing that he kept us safe, comfortable and well fed, and took care of our special needs. We are eager for our next trip when our guide can show us more and different locations.
See Photo TourI can’t thank our guides enough for leading such a wonderful photo workshop in Iceland! Everything from arrival on day 1 to our departure was perfectly planned and went so smoothly! The accommodations were great and the food was delicious. I actually miss the arctic char and all that delicious bread! It was such a rare opportunity to be able to travel with such accomplished photographers who truly cared that everyone got “the shot” at each location we went to. Our guides both provided me great tips and instruction that were really helpful, both in the lectures and in the field. Our guides knew all the right places to go at exactly the right times, which was invaluable. Our trip was entirely stress free and having everything planned out allowed us to just have a wonderful time together and take amazing photographs! Iceland is breathtakingly beautiful and I will cherish all the memories I made on this trip with you guys. I hope to book another photo workshop with Iceland Photo Tours again soon!
See Photo TourI absolutely loved the tour – the accommodations were excellent and as close as possible to the attractions, the sites included a fantastic mix of iconic locations like the Jokulsarlon lagoon and off the beaten path ones like Vestrahorn and the schedule was flexible to allow us to make the best of the challenging Icelandic weather and the unexpected historic aurora display on March 17. Additionally, the lectures and field advice I got from the guides in those few days helped my photography skills more than months of learning on my own could have done. I’ll definitely be stalking Iceland Photo Tours for photography adventures!
See Photo TourIt had been a wonderful time in our first ever experience in Iceland. Apart from the awesome nature wonders of Iceland, I have to say that we were really enjoyed you being our guide. We learned a lot from your tips and guidance on photography, as well as your kind hospitality and courteous mannerism… you are certainly our first choice of guide and teacher in any future Photo safari outing. I have not only showed my ‘ examplary ‘ photos to my family, your website photos were shown to them with plenty of ‘wow’…!!! Thank you Iceland Photo Tours!
See Photo TourDear Iceland Photo Tours, I would like to thank you for the wonderful and fruitful photography trip to Iceland last week. The places that you took us to were amazingly beautiful! I still consider myself to be quite a novice in photography but i’m seeing myself bringing home a set of beautiful photographs! You have been such a wonderful guide and instructor. I truly appreciate your guidance, helpfulness and all your valuable advices given to us to make us capture better pictures! Everything was well organised, accommodation was good and food was excellent. Also thanks to the bus driver who has been keeping us safe throughout the journey..! I am truly impressed with the trip, it was stress free, i had a really good time, you have led us to see the most amazing sights and beautiful Iceland, thank you!
See Photo TourJust to say thanks for a great trip to Iceland. You did an excellent job in arranging the places of interest which offered great and memorable photo opportunities, in particular, the super jeep drive to the central highlands waterfalls.Great job in praying for and looking out for the northern lights . This had been something that I had wanted to see for a long time and am so happy that I got to see them for two nights.Food was also very good showcasing Icelandic cuisine. Hotels were clean and comfortable. All in, a fantastic experience which I will highly recommend to my friends.
See Photo TourAn impulsive, heart-driven decision led me to Iceland. It is incredible how a step towards the right direction might end up being one of the most memorable experiences of your life. I wanted to take my photography to the next level and combine it with my passion for travelling, so Iceland Photo Tours was the way to go! Landscape photography is a highly demanding art. Shooting under the unpredictable conditions of the Icelandic weather was a very good challenge and learning experience. Our guides did an exceptional job of teaching us and making the experience fun and inspiring. With flexible schedules, comfortable transportation and accommodation, breathtaking scenery and otherworldly locations, the workshop was designed to let us take the best possible pictures we could achieve. If you are pursuing photography, go out and find those opportunities and learning experiences that will enrich your life and get you closer to where you want to be. When’s the next tour?
See Photo TourHello Iceland Photo Tours, Just want to wish you our heartfelt appreciations & thanks for the best photo tour we’ve been on. From the start on the first day till the last moment when we left Reykjavik, It’s been nothing but a wholesome wonderful experience. The photo-opp spots were astoundingly beautiful & the guidance from you with regards to the best setting up for different spots & situations were indeed very-very helpful as I have somehow, beyond my own believe
See Photo TourI would like express my deep appreciation and gratitude to Iceland Photo Tours for making my first photo workshop a memorable one. The various useful tips, dos and don’t in the world of landscape photography, especially for the beginner like me makes the entire experience worthwhile enough to consider participating in the workshop conducted by Iceland Photo Tours again in the future. The flexibility in the workshop schedules and the practical hands- on approach have allow the participants to get the best of photography experience (even in the famous unpredictable Icelandic weather).
See Photo TourFabulous trip! Can’t believe how much we packed in in a week … stunning landscapes everywhere you turned, ice beaches and glaciers, auroras two nights in a row, and waterfalls. Great opportunity to see and photograph an amazing country and to learn so much from our guides and some of the other photographers on the trip. Big thanks to all involved.
See Photo TourBeing an avid photographer, i recently toured Iceland with Iceland Photo Tours targeting popular photographic destinations. I can say I was completely blown away by Iceland’s natural beauty and diversity of photographic opportunities. Highlights of the trip were many waterfalls, geothermal areas and the Jokulsarlon ice beach. Jokulsarlon is an indescribable place and I walked away with photos that my friends back home simply cannot quit staring at! Our guides were both expert photographers helping me with lens choice and exposure settings to quickly capture pictures instead of having to waste time experimenting with camera setup. Both had visited each site several times and were able to monitor weather conditions and adjust our itinerary accordingly. During the last part of the trip, the weather was so good, we stayed up all night shooting locations in the Midnight Sun! If you are considering a trip to Iceland, I would highly recommend Iceland Photo Tours as your guides! I did extensive research before the trip and I am very happy I chose them.
See Photo TourSigned up for the midnight sun tour for May. I have never been on any photo tour before, but it will not be my last. I had so much fun photographing such amazing landscapes. Our guides are at the top of their league when it comes to Photography. During the tour they are always checking the weather to make sure we get the best possible light. In the field photographing they give expert advice as to what lens to use an filters if needed. The highlight of the tour for me was the Jokulsarion lagoon ice beach. Big chunks of ice from the lagoon wash up on a black beach. This is a photographers dream,an I lived mine here. We all were taken care of very well an fed like kings. Iceland Photo Tours know how to make a tour fun an rewarding, would not hesitate to sign up with them again.
See Photo TourGreat photography workshop and tour of Iceland. Our guides n did all that they could control to help us get get great images of many waterfalls, Ice on Ice Beach, ice on the lagoon as well as sea stacks. They chased the magic hours of light for the iconic images and more. They took care of 99% of the details, i.e. large bus with 2.5 seats per photographer, a well rounded variety of snacks on the bus, topped off by good accommodations and meals. I would recommend this workshop to seasoned (advanced and intermediate photographers), but not beginners. Get in good physical condition and know your camera equipment, before taking any workshop. There were four of us from the Wilmington, NC cape fear camera club and we are now talking about other workshops with these guys.
See Photo TourI greatly enjoyed the Iceland tour and found it to be perfect for my first international photo trip. Our guides were most helpful and gave me very good advice along the way. The tour was very well organized with regard to hotels, meals and shooting locations. I know the scheduling of activities is quite difficult for a tour like this. I want to sincerely thank you for your efforts to organize this trip. I look forward to another photo adventure with you in the future!
See Photo TourWhat an amazing 10 days in Iceland. To summarize the experience in a few words will not do it justice. Both our guides gave me an experience that will stay with me forever. Both of them combined talent and knowledge about landscape photography and finding wonderful places to shoot. The local arrangements were good and the organization well done. We had plenty of time to set up, to experience and to share. This hand-on experience was good for al level of photographers. We visited some far remote places and some fun places. Shooting pieces of washed away chuck of ice from the glacier was one of the most fun highlight of the trip. Thank you to both of you for sharing your expertise and for making this a safe and fun photo tour. The group was made up of wonderful people, by the end of the trip, our group was really tight. Thank you Guys for this amazing trip. Looking forward at shooting the Northern lights in winter.
See Photo TourI have never been on a “photo tour” before. We travel a lot and I have to say it was one of the best experiences ever. Most importantly in my mind is that I thought it was well planned out – getting to the locations at the right times and I also liked that we got to go to some of the iconic locations that we see in photos (late at night when no one was there), as well as a few that we don’t normally see. I felt the amount of time that we had in most locations was great. It was nice that we could as a group be somewhat flexible to stay one place a bit longer and/or go to other places when the lighting wasn’t as good. I appreciated that you corralled people up when they weren’t on the bus on time… but always being super nice about it. I liked that we could get to a hotel location and some people could rest, but I usually had several hours to explore the town/area on my own. The accommodations and food were all good, if not excellent. Another thing that I thought was really great was having a bus twice as big as the number of people so we had room to put all of our stuff. Our guides were always there to answer questions and when we got to special places our guide was more than helpful in telling us how to get the best shots (especially on the ice beach – I would have taken much longer exposures and wouldn’t have gotten the cool foam lines). I really enjoyed the night a few of us went to the church with the lupines, because our guide looked at the shots we were composing and then showed us how to do it better with just a little repositioning. That was so insightful to me; I learn best by seeing things. I’ve always known to include stuff in the foreground, but generally never get it right. Seeing what he did is something that will certainly stay with me and hopefully affect my future images in a positive way. Along the lines of seeing things, I think it might be fun and helpful on future trips if you asked everyone on the first day to plan to share 1 or 2 photos each night (maybe before or after dinner) that they took that day or the previous day. It would be fun to see other people’s perspectives along the way and that might inspire us to try new techniques or look at things differently.
See Photo TourThe tour was fantastic – way beyond my wildest expectations. perhaps i had no idea how beautiful and picturesque Iceland is; it seems like a different planet of its own!. everything was to my satisfaction – the price; the sights which i am sure we could not have seen without our guide; he did a good job in picking the right places; the food was delicious and excellent. The driver was great, transportation comfortable and the fact that we had 2 seats each was a big plus. I am amazed and impressed at the photos that are all popping up in facebook. From the pictures that are being posted i continue to see different perspectives and angles i never would have seen. We all went to the same places but no two pictures are alike. I am lucky to have been with a superb group of photographers. i certainly will take a winter trip to Iceland in the future. and looking forward to another learning trip with you – will try to make it to tibet at least!
See Photo TourI run a photography business in London and in April we took a group of 10 photographers to Iceland with Iceland Photo Tours. Having very little knowledge of Iceland, we were looking for an experienced photographer with local knowledge that would get us to the best locations. We also wanted someone on hand to help our group with the technical aspects of photography. Our guides delivered on all aspects and also proved to be an excellent tour host. His local knowledge meant that he got us to the locations when the light was best for shooting. We came away with the most amazing photos. Our guides dealt with all the hotel and restaurant bookings which meant we could relax and enjoy our time in Iceland and leave all the hard work to someone we knew we could trust. We rode in a very comfortable bus with plenty of room for us and all our somewhat extensive photography kit. Our guides knowledge of Iceland, photography and light made our experience there unforgettable. Thanks Iceland Photo Tours, I can’t tell you how special you helped to make our time there. I highly recommend anyone wanting an unbeatable experience to take a journey with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourThis was my second trip this year out to Iceland which is testament in itself. Big thanks to our guides for being the “aurora alarm” during the trip by getting up in the night to check for clear sky’s. Not much more to say other than if you are looking to come to Iceland and want to be taken to great locations at the best times of day to shoot, not have to worry about transport and get to stay in some first class hotels with very good food then just book a trip as soon as possible. Iceland is a photographers dream coupled with guidance from Iceland Photo Tours, i am sure you will come back with fantastic shots to remember.
See Photo TourI feel that this was a very experienced group! I was really in awe of what shots were being shared on the trip! It was a great balance of fun people who were well traveled based on their love for landscape photography. I also felt I could gain a lot not having the same level of experience which I truly did. Thanks for the life experience, I have had a great response to my images so far from this trip! I will look for the dropbox link cause I need to learn more about post processing too!
See Photo TourAfter a long weekend in Iceland being tempted by the beauty of the landscape, my husband and I just had to come back. We have been on many photographic tours, but this was mindblowing, amazing, unforgettable…. adequate words escape me! Iurie and his team provided a tour which totally exceeded all our expectations. Everything was perfectly planned…as far as possible given the vagaries of the Icelandic weather. Hotels, food and transport were all wonderful, and the locations were just “wow”. The bus was even large enough for each of us to have 2 seats. The level of attention to detail and help given to all of us that our guides provided was outstanding. I only hope that one day I can develop the sort of natural eye that they both have. Our guides tutorials were incredibly informative and I hope will help me to take my photography to the next level. And with all those wonderful photos to process, the post-processing workshop will help those images to “pop” even more. This was a superb trip, and we cannot recommend highly enough Iceland Photo Tours for any Icelandic photo trip you may be contemplating. We cant wait to come back!
See Photo TourWe wish to send you both our sincere “thank you” for the professionalism and expertise as guides and instructors to the wonderful Iceland photography tour. The places that we visited were amazingly beautiful and with your valuable guidance, enabling us to capture most exciting images far beyond our wildest imaginations, despites the unpredictable wet weather. Moreover the accommodations, meals and transportations were all outstanding, much better than some other photography tours that we have been with…Thanks again and look forward to joining another trip with you guys.
See Photo TourBoth guides were excellent mentors, Both more than willing to answer any questions, no matter how simple the answers were, they both made everybody feel relaxed and at easy.An excellent tour nonetheless. Their depth of knowledge is amazing and helped me produce some of the best photos I have ever taken, I would highly recommend this trip to anybody, Iceland is a stunning scenic wonderland.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of joining Iceland Photo Tours in Tuscany for a workshop in November. This was not my first time being guided by either of them and the experience was everything I had come to expect and more. Simply put, the workshop was meticulously planned and expertly executed. The accommodations at Villa Gaia provided the rustic feel of Tuscany complete with the modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay. Each meal prepared by the resident chef was an absolute delight offering a broad sampling of the flavors Tuscany has to offer. Perhaps most importantly, though, was the ease with which we were able to shoot. Our guides demonstrated expert knowledge of the area allowing them to adapt quickly to put us in the best locations to shoot based on weather and lighting conditions. They were able to provide advance knowledge of each location enabling us to prepare to shoot before the light came up or the mist had cleared. Transportation was easy, meeting times and locations were clear and there was ample room provided to stow and access our gear. They even made special transportation arrangements for me when my inbound flight was cancelled. All of this combined to allow each of us to relax, enjoy ourselves and focus on what was most important: to be in the right places at the right times to capture amazing images.
See Photo TourDear Iceland Photo Tours, You are world-class photographers who put a marathon effort into chasing the best light and Icelandic landscapes. Your technical help added immeasurably to my own photographic skills. Looking forward to another tour with you in the future.
See Photo TourVery happy to have joined another wonderful photo workshop led by Iceland Photo Tours. Apart from good food and wine, I loved the scenery of Tuscany. It’s so tranquil, unique and beautiful. I have also learnt a lot about composition and digital processing techniques for landscape photography from this workshop. I enjoyed the whole trip very much and thank our guides did a brilliant job.
See Photo TourThe Tuscany photo tour with Iceland Photo Tours was superb in every way. Villa Gaia provided a perfect home base from which to be perfectly positioned for iconic sunrise and sunset photos, and the day tours of the Etruscan villages were amazing. We were able to avoid the tourist traffic and be in perfect position for some of the best landscape photography of my life. Beyond setting us up the for the most glorious Tuscany landscapes, both the guides are master photography post-processors and the daytime classes in Lightroom and Photoshop added numerous techniques to my post processing knowledge and skill set. These guides are artists. They are accomplished in their own right at such a young age it is difficult to comprehend. On top of that all of the logistics were well organized and every day went without a hitch. Finally the meals at Villa Gaia were like eating in a different 5 star Parisian restaurant every day. Not exaggerating chef and Villa Director Yuri put on a masterful dining experience every night and without any exaggeration this was the best week of dining I have ever in my life experienced.
See Photo TourI just returned from a week in Tuscany with Iceland Photo Tours. The season was fall when the grass was green, the vineyards a rusty gold, and the mist in plenty supply. Our guide ’s in depth knowledge of the area and the best photographic locations allowed us to venture out to some magical hilltop landscapes to photograph the villas and cypress trees peaking out of the morning mist. The trekking up and down through the fields always made it a wonderful adventure, even if the weather, the sunrise and the sunset were uncooperative. Many afternoons were spent at another well researched location to experience and photograph the beautiful scenery with sunset light. We had time to photograph some of the villages either from a vantage point above the town or photographing the streets within the villages. Our guides planned all the days, but left room for options depending on the weather or serendipity. They each shared their photographic expertise with the participants both in the field and in a few workflow workshops during the day. We stayed in the Villa Gaia where we had the pleasure of feasting on some local, fresh and beautifully prepared food. All the logistics of the trip went smoothly. Thank you for providing all the opportunities to create some wonderful images.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of going to Cinque Terre and Tuscany with Iceland Photo Tours in November. I have done many photo trips over the past 10 years and rate this one at or near the top. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and went out of their way to share tips and ideas on how to improve my skills. I will definitely use Iceland Photo Tours again and highly recommend them for all photographers no matter what skill level they are at. Thank you.
See Photo TourI will join the chorus of cheers for Iceland Photo Tours. These photographers are extremely talented and have the ability to pass on their knowledge/expertise to their clients. We were taken to sites of phenomenal beauty and shown how to capture them with our cameras. In addition to learning how to improve my landscape photography, I thoroughly enjoyed the humour of both our guides, good lodgings/company/food, friendliness of the Icelandic people, and security in the knowledge that our driver Bjorn was excellent. I will certainly take a tour with this group during the summer sometime soon.
See Photo TourMy husband and I have a lot of experience both in leading and participating in workshops as students, I have to say that this trip has by far been the best ever. Not only the destination, but they logistics and smoothness of operations lets you know there are true professionals behind. These guides will always go the extra mile, making sure every students feels special, always by us in the field, suggesting compositions, calling basic settings on every stop and really making you go home with the image you were dreaming off. They keep close tabs with weather conditions, driving the group even over an hour away if skies were clear, and adjusting the times to leave to avoid unpleasant windy condition on the road. The lectures were to the point and amazingly helpful, which is an added value to an already great experience. They even factored a couple of shopping stops, quite convenient for us with little time. Every little detail has been given careful consideration. Perfection! In other words, this has been a life-time experience and we are already booking our next tour with them.
See Photo TourThank you to our guides for being so fantastic on the January photo tour to Iceland. Not only did they have veteran knowledge on the best locations to shoot at, they were experts on keeping a tight travel schedule to make the best use of every single sunrise and sunset opportunity. They were diligent in watching reports on Northern Light activity and weather conditions, and did their utmost to ensure that we experience the spectacle of our lives. Accommodations were always smoothly handled, and we were fed very well throughout the trip. At no point did it feel that our guides held back when teaching the group the skills of their passions, they deserve every single one of the many fans they have. We would not hesitate a moment to recommend your trips to others.
See Photo TourI had the pleasure of traveling to Iceland in January for a photo tour with eleven like-minded photographers. We had selected Iceland Photo Tours as our guide and mentor, since others in our group had seen their work during another photo tour. They managed the details of the trip to perfection. Lodging and meals were great! Finding locations with the right timing and right lenses can be challenging during an Iceland winter…we dealt with high winds, sleet, snow and mostly cloudy days. There were always subjects for us to work with hints on how to improve shots, even in such conditions. Plenty of good humor also helped us forget the conditions. On our sunny day, we were rewarded with ice cave photos that even our guides posted in their portfolios. Our guides worked closely with many of our group and provided very educational evening talks and demonstrations on composition and post-processing skills. We all benefited greatly from his personable presence. You will be rewarded on workshops with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourRecently completed an Iceland photography trip. I have taken many of these photography trips and by far, this trip was the Best!!! The trip was very well organized, the transportation, accommodations and the meals were excellent. Our guide was a very good teacher and the classes he taught were very helpful in improving my photography. He was very personable, possesses gentle soul and an amazing photographer who is very generous with he’s desire to share his knowledge in capturing nature’s awesome beauty. Our guides organized the trip very well and efficiently so that we spent maximum time in multiple locations for our shoot. Our guides kept everyone’s spirit light and kept us laughing the entire trip. I highly recommend a photography tour for anyone who is looking to create experiences that will be cherished for years to come. I’m looking forward to future trips.
See Photo TourThis was my first photo tour outside the United States. I was a bit nervous attending, without knowing anyone. Well, I can say the tour was great! I met a lot of nice people from around the globe, who were talented photographers. I specifically went on this trip to learn about what I don’t know. I have only shot aperture priority in the past, under the instruction of a single teacher. The trip opened my eyes to new settings, techniques and my equipment’s true abilities. I was very impressed with our guides. They know more about Canon equipment and photography than anyone I have ever met. They are truly impressive photographers and good teachers. It is one thing to have talent but, it is another to be able to teach. I thought both teachers complemented one another. Our guides really helped me learn more about composition – No doubt, they helped me improve in this area. I took a few really great shots on the trip. The types of photos you would be proud to hang on your wall. More importantly, our guides showed me some of what I was missing, as a photographer. I look forward to improving my photography on another trip with Iceland Photo Tours.
See Photo TourMy wife and I just got back from the most incredible photo tour ever. Our guides spent seven days showing us the best spots in Iceland for winter photography. They were knowledgeable and helpful, and were patient with photographers of all skill levels. They know all the best spots for great landscape images, and got us there at the best time of the day for each shot. The itinerary was flexible to make the most of conditions. That is one of the advantages of small group size. Our group of 10 got along great and pushed each other to make inventive and original images. We all shared tips and enthusiasm. What a great way to do photography! Iceland Photo Tours is the best company for adventure photo travel in Iceland. They use great accommodations and meals, and even though we were in Iceland in deep winter, we were comfortable and well-taken-care of. Folks at home just won’t quit talking about the world-class images we brought home. We wouldn’t hesitate to plan another adventure photo tour with this company.
See Photo TourIceland Photo Tours was magnificent beyond my wildest dreams. First, I cannot say enough about our tour guides. They made the whole trip for me. They took as much time teaching you best practice shooting techniques and showed proper ways to shoot. They held nightly workshops to learn at what we shot for the day. Iceland Photo Tours is a top-notch organisation, and I would recommend to anyone from beginner to professional photographers. We had a small group of photographers which gave us undivided attention when shooting.I never have taken such beautiful images. You are guaranteed to see sights, terrains, and even Ices Caves. No doubt I highly recommend this tour!!
See Photo TourThe Iceland Photo Tour was everything I had hoped it would be and more. Having never been on a group photo excursion for even a weekend let alone eight days in a foreign country I was a bit nervous though very excited when I first landed in Reykjavik. The first person I met was one of the two group leaders . From the start he was extremely friendly and outgoing. When I later met the other leader, I thought the same thing. What I grew to learn about the two group leaders in particular was how well they complimented each other with their own particular strengths. They were a never ending resource for helpful photographic tips that they shared willingly and recited location names around Iceland, historical references and oh yes, was also there throughout with amazing perspectives on how to shoot Landscape shots. The roles of both leaders reminded me a bit of my time working as a GO at Club Med years ago from the perspective that you (or they), were always on with the paying clients. And despite having shot around Iceland dozens and dozens of times over the years, at the same beaches, waterfalls and glaciers, both our guides showed an enthusiastic excitement each day we were out which further energized all of us to carry on no matter what the weather conditions. From a client perspective these guys were total pro’s that made our daily itinerary fresh and new and so very enjoyable, and while the cost of this excursion might seem a bit pricey, it is very well worth it with nothing missed. I would recommend this tour group and already have to numerous people here in Boston. I am already considering when I will go back!
See Photo TourI recently completed a Lofoten Islands tour. The weather did not comply at all, but that’s part of the gamble when going to the arctic in the winter. However, I was very impressed with how diligent our guides were in trying to get us the best possible experience no matter what. Local knowledge of the area and weather patterns were very key in being able to get out and take some shots vs. sitting inside a cabin not knowing where to go or what to do with the winter storms. Every time our guides suggested we head somewhere to see if the weather would break–it did, even if the cloud cover didn't fully let up at least the rain/sleet/snow/hail did for awhile. Even so, I was able to get some great moody shots of fantastic locations. There was also an incident with another (unrelated) tour guide leader, who clearly didn't understand night/aurora photography, which also clearly showed that my choice of tours was vastly superior. I’m so pleased with my experience that I’m signing up for another tour already.
See Photo TourIn February, I experienced Iceland through my camera lens while on a photography excursion with Iceland Photo Tours. In eight days, I learned bold, new photography techniques such as wave painting, long exposure and the use of graduated neutral density filters while immersing myself in Icelandic culture and the natural wonder of the country’s winterscapes, volcanic beaches, icebergs, glaciers, and northern lights. Our amazing instructors took care of every detail including transportation, accommodations, meals, plus they constantly monitored the weather and adjusted our schedule accordingly. They were knowledgeable and passionate about photography, photography equipment and about Iceland and provided guidance and suggestions that helped me capture some of the most stunning photographs in my portfolio. I returned with a wealth of information and ideas that I can use every day to photograph the world around me. If you are looking for ordinary hop-on-the-bus-and-stop-to-photograph-a statue instruction, then this workshop is not for you. But if you want to expand your worldview and your understanding of light, composition, visualization, creativity, and overall photography technique, then I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to travel with Iceland Photo Tours again.
See Photo TourI have landed at home after a truly great photo trip with you two in Iceland. Even though the weather shifted like it should in Iceland, we got pictures I truly enjoy working with after coming home. We got the Northern light, the fabulous black beach at Vik, Jökulsarlon and the ice beach. The last one being my favourite. I came on this trip to get more interested in and better at taking landscape photos. With you two always willing to teach and share of your expert knowledge, I came home happy and with much more knowledge about how to succeed in landscape photography. I would have liked to do the week many times. The places we stayed were great, good food and good company. And last but not least, very good space for myself and my gear in a comfortable bus with a very good driver. All in all, no complaints from me, just a lot of happy memories. Thank you!
See Photo TourVisit Iceland for a photo trip has been one of my dreams for years. However, organizing such a trip, search and scout for the best locations and make sure to reach them at the right moment, is not easy to plan. If this is what you are looking for, you will surely find in Iceland-Photo-Tours the right companion to discover Iceland. But if you’re also looking to improve your skills with invaluable tips and feedbacks from the guides, professional photographers that know this place like their pockets, and get that dose of energy and motivation that you need to get the best shot, then you really found the best partner for you great photo adventure in Iceland. Our guides were very helpful and disponible. They both are very skillful and prepared. They accompained us with professionalism, always offering their kind advices and support even after long days, making this adventure an amazing photo trip to Iceland. Cannot wait to do to the summer tour :)”
See Photo TourIceland Photo Tours has it all. Our guide was experienced. He knows “that” unique timing and point of view on every location. knows hidden locations. He has a solid knowledge about the art of photography, Brings crystal clear technical explanations and keeps at every moment an active sense of humour. The vehicle is perfect and allowed us to reach all the difficult places. After 8 days travelling with our guide and my wife at the south and east coast of Iceland, we enjoyed the country, learned tips and skills to improve as photographers, had the chance to get in touch with the Icelandic sensitivity and way of living and specially, we laughed a lot. Absolutely recommended !!!
See Photo TourNaturally, I had high expectations thanks to the surreal pictures on their website of “photos taken during our aurora and photography tours”. I was skeptical but now … thanks to our guides… I have the photos to prove it! Serious nature photography was never my strong suit – a combination of too much heavy equipment to lug and lack of patience from my fellow travelers were probably to blame. So our guides did a great job – not only herding us all from one place to the next (patiently explaining all that “tech stuff”), but also dealing with our repeat questions and multiple demands; all whilst negotiating unpredictable weather and the illusive aurora. Anyway, despite the fact that this was the “n-th” time they had seen these sights, their enthusiasm for photography and nature shone through. It doesn’t matter if you are not a professional photographer or don’t have all the equipment on the list – I didn’t. The tour was fun and interesting plus I learned a lot. Perhaps most importantly, our guides kept us on point – making sure that we were not so involved in taking the perfect photo that we missed the big picture. Go, it’s worth it!
See Photo TourOur photo tour guide is a very warm-hearted and extremely talented photographer, he knows the locations like the back of his hand. With his direction and recommendation, we got lots of great photographs with best light, especially for the aurora hunting, his knowledge and experience prove to be tremendous assets that help us get the shots. He is also very thoughtful on the needs of our group. Overall, our guide provides invaluable service to our group, I would like to have him again in my next tour, and highly recommend him as a guide to any of your tours.
See Photo TourThanks a lot to our guides for that great winter workshop week. The tour went way beyond my expectation. To be honest, as I’m used to travel a lot alone or with my wife, organizing all our journey ourselves while identifying in advance photo stops and timing, I was more looking at the tour as a good opportunity to see the ice cave and northern lights with additional other good spots while logistics is being taken care of and some good photo hints for the Northern lights. This was fully fulfilled of course with a great choice of accommodation according to what is available in Iceland. But it went really farther than I expected, I really enjoyed the various lectures which were very pedagogic and visual. It strengthen areas I knew while learning what I missed around filters. I enjoyed the sharing of the techniques for these wave paintings. The non photo tips (pre and in-trip) where extremely precious. I would have not brought over boots otherwise and tape ;-). I appreciated above all two rare things: – sharing so many hints and spots by providing before we arrive on a spot some inspiration on photo that could be made and best gear to target; – the continuous high availability to the group members on spot in in trip to any questions that can range from basic tech knowledge to advice on framing and freedom to explore for those who want. A perfect balance. I won’t complain at all but from my past experience in Summer, I thought that a winter trip would be resting with short days and that was not the case (for the good meaning of it) as the strong organization help us make the most out of the time there. I will definitely consider and have a look at the other tour proposed by Iceland Photo tour in the future (not only in Iceland). This was my first trip with you but most certainly not the last one
See Photo TourMy girlfriend and I joined the winter workshop. It was the first photo workshop we ever joined and probably not the last. The organization of this seven days tour was outstanding, the schedule well planned, the weather incredible and the food also great. Our guides were always helpful and professional with providing not only support and advice for taking pictures but also with additional camera gear like filters, holders etc and everything with a smile on their face. Their passion for photography and knowledge about Iceland made this workshop absolutely successful and unique for us – of course with the highlight of the Aurora at Jökulsarlon. Iceland in winter time with all the snow and in combination with this new experience of a photo workshop and this funny group of different people from all over the world – we will never forget this and will be back for sure.
See Photo TourI thoroughly enjoyed the photo tour, notwithstanding the weather but that was to be expected! And we got that spectacular night of aurora. The itinerary was great, with flexibility based on weather (I still hear you shouting while on the cliff: “mammatus clouds, mammatus clouds!!) and shooting conditions as they arose. The accommodations were very good as far as I was concerned, considering the remote locations involved. The food, to my surprise, was very very good!! Even better than the food we had in our Disney Fantasy cruise last year!!You and Thor were excellent guides, looking after and helping each participant hands on, lending photo equipment to help enhance or salvage their photography (too bad about the damaged equipment, happens to everyone eventually).Your lectures were very informative and the photos used were very inspiring. The group composition and size were great and made for a fun experience; loose and carefree demeanor. I like what John said, but not just any 2 Puerto Ricans, but those 2 Puerto Ricans. Overall the trip: “great bang for the buck!”, Iceland is awesome, I plan to come back and perhaps join the inland tour next year.I signed up for the October Tuscany trip.Congratulations on your obvious success with your career so far, good luck on your future endeavor, maybe our photographing paths will cross again!
See Photo TourBig thanks for our guides. The tour was absolutely fabulous. It let me focused completely in my photography and not the other things like driving, hotel arrangements and all the fun logistics. I also enjoyed the great company of all of you. Material presented to us I feel it was value added. I personally loved Iceland, it is just superb. I’m returning in Sept, for a little highlands adventures.
See Photo TourI traveled to New Zealand’s south island with Iceland Photo Tours. The images I was able to capture on this trip were spectacular due to the diversity of landscape in this area, but just as importantly, the effort of the guide to monitor the conditions and adjust the itinerary to ensure we made the most of the weather in the surrounding area. This meant on more than 1 occasion, our guide drove us a significant distance prior to sunrise to give us the best opportunity for ideal lighting. Between shooting, our guide arranged activities such as wine tasting, bungee jumping, shopping and not least of all, terrific food options. His sense of humor and ability to teach composition are reasons I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Iceland Photo Tours to lead your New Zealand photo trip!
See Photo TourIn April i embarked on my first photo tour to New Zealand. The tour turned out to be a great experience, our guide has been to new Zealand a number of times and has a extensive knowledge of the area and was able to guide us to many of the iconic NZ views as well as a few not so common and off the beaten track spots. Our guide is an excellent photographer and during the trip we received extensive technical help covering many topics like the use of filters, compositional advise, help with night photography shooting the milky way as well as demonstrations by our guide on many of the post processing techniques that he uses. During the tour we traveled in a large mini van with plenty of room for the luggage and camera gear. During the trip we stayed at a number of nice Hotels many with stunning views straight from the window that were located to give good access to the various areas that we would be visiting. The food during the trip was excellent with a large choice of restaurants in most areas offering a wide range of cuisines to choose from. The trip wasn’t just a photo tour either when we had some down time between shooting and weather permitting we were able to do some shopping in Queenstown along with activities like gondola ride high above Queenstown, bungee jumping, vine yard visit and Milford Sound Boat ride. So if your looking at visiting New Zealand where you don’t have to worry about anything other than taking great photographs then don’t hesitate to contact Iceland Photo Tours for a trip of a lifetime.
See Photo TourWe had a a fantastic ten-day workshop on Island! The landscapes were an unexpected treasure. Thank you so much for your fabulousguidance and assistance! You made our workshop so easy and smooth, we had a full service all the time. And I have learned a lot about taking excellent pictures! I loved my time here, can’t wait to come again in winter!
See Photo TourAs semi-retired travel and nature photographers who led national and international workshops for thirty years, we are very selective in who we now recommend. Both Pat & I feel we can recommend Iceland Photo Workshops. They do a terrific job:even with many years of experience we learned a lot and had a great time. We’ll travel with them again.
See Photo TourI just finished a wonderful one of your tours, Our guide is full of energy, is very positive and takes care of everyone’s needs. He is the best trip leader I’ve had, and I have been on four photo tours ( with other companies) besides the Midnight Sun I just did with him. He was efficient, used the time well, is a good driver, and inspires confidence. Most important for me is that I learned so much about photography from him. He was a generous teacher and gave freely of his information.
See Photo TourI just returned from a twelve day tour of Iceland with a group of thirteen participants and want to express my appreciation for the professionalism of Icelandic Photo Tours and our excellent guide. I have been leading tours in many locations around the world for many years and when I decided to add Iceland, I was fortunate to have made this connection. Our guide knew when and where to place us to take advantage of the best light. He also added some discrete and not so well-known areas. In addition to his skills we enjoyed comfortable transportation, lodging and great meals; all of which gave our group a memorable trip and excellent images. I am looking forward to another tour in the near future.
See Photo TourIceland’s majestic landscapes left us all in awe of nature’s beauty. As expected we came home with unbelievable photos, but more than that I am grateful to have shared the experience with lifelong friends. Truly, Iceland is a place one should visit at least once in a lifetime! Thank you to Iceland Photo Tours!
See Photo TourI would like to say a big thank you to our guides for their teaching during the recent Iceland tour in October. Having been to a few photography courses/tours, the Iceland tour has been the most impressive.I had more teaching from these guides than all other photographers before. They were tireless and checked on how we were doing one by one while we were shooting. We were prompted on how to compose, expose and were taught on focus-stacking technique. We were given good advices and this improved the standard of our shots When the weather was poor and we could not take photos, they gave us excellent lectures on photo technique and post-processing. They are friendly and easy to relate to and this approach allowed us to learn happily. I firmly believe that I am now a better photographer than 1 month ago thanks to these guides. Hopefully I’ll have time to join his tour again in not too distant future.
See Photo TourOur guides saw to the logistics and smoothness of the trip so we could concentrate on our photography techniques. Every little detail was considered. They suggested compositions, called basic settings and best lens to use in specific circumstances so we could come away with the best shots possible. My fear of water kept me from getting better images on the Ice Beach even though our guides kept encouraging me to get closer!! We were taught new techniques, ie) focus stacking, so the images would be tack sharp from front to back. To go with this, the lectures were to the point with tips on post editing. I am a PS beginner and I learnt the basics of dealing with focus stacking images. The weather was not cooperating (heavy cloud cover and sporadic rain with very little colour most times) but they kept tabs with the weather changes, the northern lights strength level for that specific evening and adjusted the timings so we could get the best conditions available. Unfortunately, the aurora borealis was there but due to heavy clouds, we just couldn't see them!To me, it was a life-time experience though I found it physically challenging at times. Living with arthritis does put a kink in your movements and speed of execution!
See Photo TourIt is my pleasure to report that Iceland Photo Tours delivers again! The second time around as was good as expected and more. By the second day, our guides knew all our weak points and preferences and was always ready to point out a new vantage point or a fresh angle for us to improve our images. In their lectures, they knew how to get to everyone’s level, even if the knowledge in the group is very diverse. They even helped with tripod and gear when they saw me a bit tired. Our guides were very courteous and helpful, always there for us in a tricky walk and ready to accommodate our needs. Great cultural and geographical information throughout the tour also. The hotels and food were as great as the first time and we will continue to use the company as our preferred traveling resource. Thank you!
See Photo TourI will echo the others’ impressions of the Svalbard Tour. I would rate the trip in the top five and perhaps even the very best trip in my 50 years or so of traveling around the world. Everything was just perfect. The scenery was totally breathtaking, with an incredible mix of mountains, rugged coastlines, flat land, tundra, glaciers, icebergs and packed ice. The weather was fantastic most of the time, including the experience of gale force winds for 24 hours. The wildlife was beyond expectations, with great views of polar bears, seals, walruses, foxes, whales, and of course all the arctic birds I was hoping to spot. The Brigantine Antigua was amazing, oozing with old charm from all angles. The rooms were small but functional, and the food was delicious with every meal. The company was one of the best part, a friendly and tight group of people from different corners of the world and a variety of interests. The expedition guides were outstanding and the briefings and lectures were eagerly awaited with excitement every day. I would like to add a personal note of appreciation for the bird watching skills of Morten the ornithologist who would always be on the look out and point out new arctic birds every day. It was a haunting trip that will stay with me for ever.
See Photo TourWhen I left for the trip to board the Scooner Donna Wood in Greenland I questioned myself what am I doing traveling to such remote place. I didn’ t realize that the trip changed forever my life! I felt so much at home with being among amazing people, our guides gave me such an incredible insights to find the beauty through the lenses, and amazing landscape to take pictures of, making me burnt more CF than ever. Greenland moved my soul, gave me new direction in life to return to my passion for works on global vhange, toearn more taking amazing landscape pictures, and Greenland is cling me back again…I will return.
See Photo TourWithout a doubt the workshop in Iceland was one of the best experiences of my life. Participating was the best decision I could make. There is no way to express how incredible everything was; The group was full of funny people that made the experience even better. The place is awesome and the service from the organizers was excellent. Special thanks to our guides for all the attention, patience and professionalism. Recommended 100%.
See Photo TourThis trip was an epic experience. I think the best way to describe it is like when you were a child during Christmas eve, you couldn't sleep out of excitement. Amazing place and a great group. Excellent tour and super professional guides. Thank you very much for your advice and organization of the workshop.
See Photo TourThe photography workshop in Iceland was simply epic! For sure one of the best experiences of my life.
See Photo TourMaking the decision to participate in the photography workshop in Iceland was an EXCELLENT idea. I can not explain how much I enjoyed it, and apart from all the excellent service I received from the organizers. Very grateful to our guides for all their attention. They were all very professional and of great help to improve in the field of photography. The place itself is a paradise, but it was much better with the company of a good team and colleagues. Super recommended, so do not think about it too much and book the next one.
See Photo TourI visited Iceland in September. Our guides transmitted their photographic experience, as well as knowledge of the island, making very accurate recommendations regarding places and techniques. We visited the west coast and the south coast of the country. Transportation, meals and hotels were excellent. Our main objective was the Aurora Borealis, thanks to the climatic conditions, we saw them 4 nights in a row. It is an unprecedented celestial phenomenon, full of magic, spiritual and emotional. We had with us a great driver who was also a photographer and took us to some hidden spots great for photographing without people around. Personally I have participated in several tours guided by Iceland Photo Tours, they are great organizing every single aspect and their technical explanations are very clear. The itinerary was fantastic, and the team always helped us take the best possible pictures at the best locations. Totally recommended and waiting for the next one!
See Photo TourMy wife, Sue and I attended a two week “All Around Iceland” tour in February and early March this year. I found the tour to be exhilarating and rewarding. Both our guides were outstanding, providing excellent advice and individual help to us. The bottom line is that I have been taking digital photographs since 1999, when I owned the first 1 mega-pixel camera, and this photo tour produced more award winners than any other I have been on. Kudos to Iceland tours!
