Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctica Photography Expedition

Discover the wonders of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia on this photography expedition to Antarctica! This incredible workshop is designed to have you immersed in the spectacular surrounds of the White Continent as you hone your photography skills with expert guidance and education. Across 23 incredible days, you'll sail from the tip of Argentina across the South Atlantic Ocean to the Falkland Islands, before continuing on through the Southern Ocean to South Georgia Island. From there, you'll make your way over the Scotia Sea before reaching your penultimate destination in the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. Your aim will be to capture the breathtaking and diverse landscapes as you traverse the seas, taking in the wondrous icy mountain peaks, soaring cliff sides, pristine beaches and majestic icebergs that you'll encounter during each leg of the journey. Aside from snowy wilderness, this remote part of the world is home to some of the most amazing wildlife. You'll have plenty of opportunities to photograph rare and endangered whales, seals, dolphins and many species of penguins, as well as sea birds such as albatross, Giant petrel and Falkland steamer ducks. The M/v Sea Spirit will be your warm and cosy base for the duration of this expedition. With up-to-date technology and comfortable fittings, this polar-class expedition vessel is well-equipped to carry you safely to the end of the world and back. The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica are best explored on foot, so we'll make several shore landings and excursions during the workshop to ensure that you'll be best placed for mindboggling photographic opportunities. This photography expedition will be guided by world-renowned photographer, Daniel Kordan. Throughout the tour, he'll share all of his in-depth knowledge with you to ensure that you'll take your photography skills to a whole new level. Iceland Photo Tours is pleased to join forces with Aurora Expeditions and to invite you on board the Greg Mortimer, a stellar new polar class 6 vessel that is built to withstand the harsh climate of the Antarctic seas. Together with Aurora Expeditions, we are offering a joint fly/sail photography expedition that will excite anyone looking for a truly mesmerising voyage of a lifetime. This photography workshop to Antarctica is guided by 4 professional award-winning photographers, who will offer a scope of instruction, classes, critique sessions, workshops and in-field guidance to enable you to expand upon your photography portfolio. Throughout this expedition to Antarctica, your dedicated photography guides will ensure that you are immersed in a wealth of knowledge that you'll always remember. This photography workshop to Antarctica features a one of a kind FLY/SAIL experience, which is designed to maximise your time photographing the wonderful surrounds of your destination. To reach Antarctica, you will board an aircraft from Punta Arenas to King George Island. You will sail through the tumultuous waters of the Drake section just once, to make the crossing from Antarctica to Ushuaia over the course of two days. The Greg Mortimer guarantees a comfortable journey as you sail across the Antarctic seas. Holding just 100 travelers, the atmosphere is sure to be friendly. Our tour will have 44 spots reserved aboard the Greg Mortimer, held out of the total 100. For the duration of our tour, there will be a mindblowing 15 zodiacs onboard for making shore landings, whereby you may explore Antarctica intimately by foot. You will also find an art room on Deck 7, designed with photographers in mind. It features 3 terminals for post processing. In addition, you’ll be able to print out your photos if you wish. When we are not out shooting the surrounds, our group will be utilising this room as a workspace.

Iceland Photo Tours is proud to partner with Aurora Expeditions and to welcome you on board the Greg Mortimer, a brand-new, fully stabilised polar class 6 vessel that will be launched in 2019. We are excited to announce our joint fly/sail photography voyage that is suitable for photographers of all levels seeking the adventure of a lifetime to Antarctica.  The unique nature of this FLY/SAIL adventure means that we will sail through the Drake passage only once, to cross from Ushuaia to Antarctica within roughly two days. On the way back, you will fly to Punta Arenas, thereby extending the amount of time that you will have to explore Antarctica.  The cruise ship not only provides comfort but also a learning experience that you’ll never forget. This tour is guided by 4 award winning pro photographers, who will offer a range of processing classes and seminars, lectures on composition, as well as critique sessions to help you build upon your portfolio. All of this onboard an extraordinary vessel that’s hosts only 100 passengers, featuring 15 flexible zodiacs and a friendly, family-style atmosphere. We have 44 spots onboard the Greg Mortimer, reserved out of 100, to accommodate our passengers during this spectacular photography tour. The price of the tour includes tuition and master classes from all of our professional Antarctica photographers.  The Greg Mortimer features an art room on Deck 7, that is dedicated to photographers with 3 editing terminals and a special printer. These art rooms will be used as a workshop space for our group. Iceland Photo Tours and Aurora Expeditions welcomes all levels of photographers and even non-photography companions on this incredible cruise.
