East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

We'll rise early in the morning on day two to begin our journey to Greenland! After breakfast, we'll make our way to the domestic airport in Reykjavík, where we'll take a flight to Kulusuk in East Greenland. Our arrival time will be around noon.

Once we arrive in Kulusuk, we'll sail towards Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in Greenland. Surrounded by mountains, it makes for a picturesque location to base ourselves for the next week as we head out in anticipation of capturing the large icebergs that float in the fjords.

Day 3 - Ikateq , Knud Rasmussen Glacier

East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

On day three of our adventure, we'll make our way to Ikateq. Once buzzing with life, this US Army Air Corps base is now uninhabited. It harbours many unique subjects for photography, made all the more fascinating by the surrounding Arctic scenery.

Thereafter, we'll make our way towards the Knud Rasmussen Glacier at the edge of the Wolstenholme Fjord. We'll spend some time exploring the area, looking for interesting compositions with the glacier in the foreground and impervious mountain peaks as a stunning backdrop.

Later in the afternoon, we'll return to our base camp at Tasiilaq.

    Day 4 - Ikasartivaq

East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

Day four sees us travelling into the heart of Ammassalik and Ikasartivaq fjords as we continue to explore the Arctic wilderness. Along the way, we'll keep our eyes peeled for wildlife, including whales, as we sail across the seas.

In the afternoon, we'll make a stop at the picturesque abandoned settlement of Qernertorvetit and spend some time photographing within the small hunting and fishing village of Tinit. There will be many opportunities to experience the culture and to capture portraits of the locals as they go about their daily business.

Later on, we'll return to our base camp in Tasiilaq.

    Day 5 - Tiniteqilaaq

East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

On day five, we'll sail to the hunting settlement of Tiniteqilaaq, where you'll have the very special chance to experience Inuit culture first-hand. We'll be welcomed into the home of a local and learn all about their way of life. The house overlooks the iceberg-filled fjord of Sermilik, making for stunning photographic opportunities. We'll capture the icebergs as they float serenely into the hamlet, surrounded by ethereal Arctic light.

    Day 6 - Kuummiut

East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

On day six, we'll continue sailing through the fjords of East Greenland. In the morning, we'll stop by the village of Kuummiut, one of the most attractive Inuit settlements in the country. Our day will be spent wandering through the village, in search of compositions to capture, including wildflowers and local houses along the spectacular coastline. There will also be opportunities to meet the local villagers. There may even be the chance to photograph groups of Inuit villagers as they return from a hunt.

In the afternoon, we'll sail into Ikassa fjord, where icebergs line the rugged and rocky shores. Once there, we'll anchor by the tongue of a glacier, where we'll take an enchanting hike out onto the ice. We'll have lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery, before returning to Tasiilaq to capture the sun setting over the icebergs.

    Day 7 - Kulusuk – Reykjavik, Iceland

East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop

This will be our final day of photography. In the morning, we'll set sail from Tasiilaq back to Kulusuk, where we'll have some time to relax and explore the town at our leisure before boarding a flight back to Reykjavík at around lunchtime.
