Explore the pristine surrounds of East Greenland on this incredible 8-day photography workshop! This Arctic destination is teeming with wildlife, as well as breathtaking natural scenery that is sure to captivate you from the moment that you arrive. From whales to glaciers, you'll have incredible opportunities to develop your photography skills as we get off the beaten track on an icy adventure.

For the duration of this tour, we'll be based at Tasiilaq – the largest settlement in East Greenland and the gateway to all of the spectacular sights that lie ahead. During the days, we'll visit local villages and immerse ourselves in the Inuit culture, marvelling at majestic mountain peaks that surround the deep ice fjords. In the evenings, we'll capture the colossal icebergs as they float beneath the ethereal light of the setting sun. They make for otherworldly compositions beneath the Northern Lights as they dance across the night sky.

Day 1
East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop - day 1

Day 1 - Arrival

You'll arrive in Iceland and make your way from Keflavík International Airport to your hotel in Reykjavík City. From there, you'll have some time to rest or explore the city at your leisure, before meeting with the rest of the group in the evening for a welcome dinner. Over dinner, you'll get to know your fellow travellers a little bit better as your photography guides go over the details for the days ahead.

Day 2
East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop - day 2

Day 2 - Reykjavik , Kulusuuk , Tasiilaq

We'll rise early in the morning on day two to begin our journey to Greenland! After breakfast, we'll make our way to the domestic airport in Reykjavík, where we'll take a flight to Kulusuk in East Greenland. Our arrival time will be around noon. Once we arrive in Kulusuk, we'll sail towards Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in Greenland. Surrounded by mountains, it makes for a picturesque location to base ourselves for the next week as we head out in anticipation of capturing the large icebergs that float in the fjords.

Day 3

Day 3 - Ikateq , Knud Rasmussen Glacier

On day three of our adventure, we'll make our way to Ikateq. Once buzzing with life, this US Army Air Corps base is now uninhabited. It harbours many unique subjects for photography, made all the more fascinating by the surrounding Arctic scenery. Thereafter, we'll make our way towards the Knud Rasmussen Glacier at the edge of the Wolstenholme Fjord. We'll spend some time exploring the area, looking for interesting compositions with the glacier in the foreground and impervious mountain peaks as a stunning backdrop. Later in the afternoon, we'll return to our base camp at Tasiilaq.

Day 4
East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop - day 4

Day 4 - Ikasartivaq

Day four sees us travelling into the heart of Ammassalik and Ikasartivaq fjords as we continue to explore the Arctic wilderness. Along the way, we'll keep our eyes peeled for wildlife, including whales, as we sail across the seas. In the afternoon, we'll make a stop at the picturesque abandoned settlement of Qernertorvetit and spend some time photographing within the small hunting and fishing village of Tinit. There will be many opportunities to experience the culture and to capture portraits of the locals as they go about their daily business. Later on, we'll return to our base camp in Tasiilaq.

Day 5

Day 5 - Tiniteqilaaq

On day five, we'll sail to the hunting settlement of Tiniteqilaaq, where you'll have the very special chance to experience Inuit culture first-hand. We'll be welcomed into the home of a local and learn all about their way of life. The house overlooks the iceberg-filled fjord of Sermilik, making for stunning photographic opportunities. We'll capture the icebergs as they float serenely into the hamlet, surrounded by ethereal Arctic light.

Day 6
East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop - day 6

Day 6 - Kuummiut

On day six, we'll continue sailing through the fjords of East Greenland. In the morning, we'll stop by the village of Kuummiut, one of the most attractive Inuit settlements in the country. Our day will be spent wandering through the village, in search of compositions to capture, including wildflowers and local houses along the spectacular coastline. There will also be opportunities to meet the local villagers. There may even be the chance to photograph groups of Inuit villagers as they return from a hunt. In the afternoon, we'll sail into Ikassa fjord, where icebergs line the rugged and rocky shores. Once there, we'll anchor by the tongue of a glacier, where we'll take an enchanting hike out onto the ice. We'll have lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery, before returning to Tasiilaq to capture the sun setting over the icebergs.

Day 7
East Greenland 8 Day Photo Workshop - day 7

Day 7 - Kulusuk – Reykjavik, Iceland

This will be our final day of photography. In the morning, we'll set sail from Tasiilaq back to Kulusuk, where we'll have some time to relax and explore the town at our leisure before boarding a flight back to Reykjavík at around lunchtime.

Day 8 - Departure

Unfortunately, all adventures must come to an end. After breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel in Reykjavík and make our way back to the airport, no doubt with a treasure trove of memories and photos from an extraordinary adventure in East Greenland.
