This tour is now Sold Out.  New dates will be announced in our Newsletter.

Isolated, pristine, raw — that's East Greenland for you, a place where nature free to exert its influence and showcase its beauty, making it one of the most ideal places for photography in the world. If you're serious about exploring the arctic, capturing nature in its purest (and most beautiful) and most pristine form, and willing to take paths that lie off the beaten track, then this is the trip for you. The culture, wildlife and sights that Greenland has to offer will be laid at your feet — skyscraper-sized icebergs, massive waterfalls that fall into the sea, majestic jagged mountains, deep fjords and many other natural sights await you.

We will be based out of the Tasiilaq settlement, from which we'll head out every day to explore different areas, mostly by boat. Each location promises to offer something different — we will all have unique opportunities to photograph not only Greenland's raw nature, but also the culture of its people, who are generally isolated from the rest of the world and make a living primarily by fishing and seal hunting. Our trip promises to help you catch a glimpse and capture images of one of the most exclusive areas in the world.

    Daily itinerary

    Day 1 - Arrival

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

First stop: Iceland. You land at the Keflavik international airport, and will be brought to your hotel in central Reykjavík through the quick and efficient flyBus. You'll have some time to rest and freshen up before we meet at around 7PM for a get-to-know dinner where the itinerary, plans and other important matters for the tour will be discussed.

    Day 2 - Reykjavik , Kulusuuk , Tasiilaq

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

We'll fly out in the morning from Reykjavik and arrive at around noon in Kulusuk, East Greenland. We'll then set sail to our base camp in the town of Tasiilaq, East Greenland's largest settlement with more than 2000 people, which is located just a bit south of the Arctic Circle. Tasiilaq will be our launching point for our daily trips as we discover what East Greenland has to offer.

Day 3 - Ikateq , Knud Rasmussen Glacier

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

Our first stop is a very interesting place in the form of an old and abandoned American base. Located in Ikateq, this area has a lot of very unique subjects to be photographed, which are further enhanced as we will be shooting in an Arctic environment. Our next destination on this day will be the Knud Rasmussen glacier before we head home to Tasiilaq around late afternoon.

    Day 4 - Ikasartivaq

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

The Ammassalik fjord and the Ikasartivaq fjord will make up the majority of our travels on this day, as we stop by the desert settlement Qernertorvetit as well as visit the Tinit hunter settlement. As you expect, not only will we be able to see and capture a lot of human interest subjects and East Greenland culture, our travels will also abound with natural sights, which may also include whale sightings.

    Day 5 - Tiniteqilaaq

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

On days 5 and 6, we'll visit another settlement called Tiniteqilaaq, where we will spend the night in a local Inuit house.

    Day 6 - Tiniteqilaaq

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

Our view will be one of a kind, with the icy Sermilik fjord as our background. Here we will be concentrating on capturing the majestic and picturesque glacier formations.

    Day 7 - Kuummiut

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

We set out for the fjords again, stopping first at the Inuit hamlet Kuummiut, where we can photograph the icy coastline and get some images of the locals too. If we are lucky, we'll also catch the local hunters returning from their hunting trips. We'll then head to the narrow Ikassa fjord, where we'll be treated to various rock and ice formations. We may also hike right up to the tongue of a glacier for a more intimate encounter with our icy environment. We'll have a picnic on the ice for lunch and then head back to Tasiilaq.

    Day 8 - Tasiilaq

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

Full schedule of shooting today, as we traverse the nearby valleys for various natural sights, and then go around town. Some highlights for the day include a special drum dance organized just for us, as well as some glacier shooting in the golden light just before sunset.

    Day 9 - Kulusuk , Reykjavik, Iceland

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

It's back to Kulusuk, where we'll have a short window of opportunity to walk around and find interesting subjects to photograph. Come noontime, we'll then head back to Reykjavik.

Day 10 - Transfer to Keflavik Airport

East Greenland 10 Day Photo Workshop

A hearty breakfast will send you off to the Keflavik International Airport via FlyBus for your flight home.
