Chase the Northern Lights across the spectacular Arctic landscapes of Abisko in Sweden and Senja Island in Norway!
This 7-day small-group winter photography workshop is designed to maximise your time shooting in this wild and ruggedly beautiful part of the world. Situated well above the Arctic Circle, you'll be well-positioned to witness the most magical show on the planet, as the Aurora dances across the starry night sky.
Senja is the second largest island of Norway and is well-known for its dramatic, mountainous scenery as well as its spectacular coastlines. This is a place where pristine, white sandy beaches meet with the deep waters of fjords, casting an enchanting spell only fit for a winter wonderland. On the other hand, Abisko is a magical location in Sweden where vast expanses of snow and unpolluted night skies make for the perfect recipe to view the Northern Lights.
Throughout this adventure, you'll have two photography guides with you, taking you to all of the best locations to capture the gorgeous, icy landscapes. They'll share their wealth of knowledge with you to ensure that you'll be able to advance your photography skills and take home an abundance of incredible images.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, this 7-day photography workshop in Abisko and Senja is bound to expose you to the inspiring nature of both Sweden and Norway beneath the ethereal Arctic light. Don't miss out on this winter photography tour of a lifetime! Check availability by choosing a date.
On day one, you'll arrive to Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes (EVE), where you'll be met by your guides and the rest of your group. From there, you'll set off immediately on the journey north, towards the Lyngen Alps east of the city of Tromsø.
Once there, you'll check in to your hotel, before heading back out to explore the stunning natural beauty of the mountain ranges in the Norwegian Arctic. Photographic opportunities abound, with stunning fjords and snowy landscapes all around. We'll spend our time making the most of the winter light, with long sunrises reaching into early sunsets.
Don't be surprised when the sun dips below the horizon around 2pm. While it will be dark in the afternoon, we'll have all the more time to hunt for the elusive Northern Lights.
On day two, we'll continue our exploration of the Lyngen Alps, leaving no boulder unturned. The steep mountain peaks are a dream to photograph, swathed in a blanket of white snow. Panoramic vistas await us as we chase the Arctic light and alpenglow through snowy valleys.
In the afternoon and evening, we will train our eyes once again to the sky, in search of the majestic Northern Lights. Capturing this atmospheric phenomenon takes tremendous skill. Luckily for us, we'll have ample time to perfect this art and science.
From days 3 to 5, we'll base ourselves on Senja island in the north of Norway.
Dramatic landscapes await, with jagged mountain peaks, stunning fjords, Arctic beaches, sprawling coastlines and spectacular seascapes around every corner.
Throughout the days, we'll make the most of the extraordinary winter light on this idyllic island. In the afternoons and evenings, we'll photograph the Northern Lights in the remote and scenic wilderness, framed against a backdrop of astonishing landscapes.
On day six, we'll make our journey into Abisko National Park in the wild and snowy landscapes of Sweden. During winter, this is one of the best places on Earth where you can view the Northern Lights. The scenery here is diverse and we'll spend our nights hunting for auroral activity near frozen waterfalls, mirror-like lakes and deep gorges in this stunning winter wonderland.
This will be our final day of photography. After breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel and continue exploring Abisko for a plethora of incredible photographic opportunities, which we'll capture from a multitude of different angles with icy foregrounds.
We'll then make the journey back to Harstad, where you'll be able to catch your flight home or onwards to your next destination.
