Travel the world to capture the most incredible landscapes
The shared Argentinian and Chilean region of Patagonia is one of the most incredible places on Earth, boasting pristine and dramatic scenery that makes it a landscape photographer's delight. This is where lush rainforests meet with the jagged peaks of the Andes mountain range, looming high on the horizon. The landscape is at once beautiful and wild, revealing delicate and rugged compositions at every turn. This autumn photography workshop in the heart of Patagonia will have you capturing glaciers, blazing sunsets and the fiery hues of red, gold and burnt orange that taint the foliage during fall. At this time of year, there may be a layer of fresh snow, making for truly enchanting scenes. The tourists will be few and we'll have our pick of locations both on and off the beaten track. Join us on an adventure of a lifetime! Choose a date and check availability below.
After dinner, we'll stay overnight at the hotel.
Our evening will be spent at El Calafate.
In the evening, we will head out for a sunset shoot at a nearby canyon, where lush vegetation meets the flowing water of the Fitz Roy river snaking towards the snowcapped peaks of the Andean mountains. No doubt there will be some fascinating colours in the sky, clinging to the clouds overhead as the sun begins to set.
Our day will be spent in the Lago Desierto region, chasing waterfalls with our cameras and practicing our long exposure photography techniques.
In the evening, we'll shoot the sunset at a nearby viewpoint, with panoramic vistas all over the surrounding area and the peaks of Fitz Roy in the distance.
There will be a multitude of wildlife to photograph along the way. We'll make stops to capture them grazing in their natural habitat. Some of the animals that we may see include puma, guanaco, ostrich and armadillo.
The closer that we get to Torres del Paine, the wilder the landscape will appear to be. You'll catch your first glimpse of the Andean mountain range, rising high into the clouds. Along the way, we'll make numerous stops to capture the wonderful surrounds.
Once we arrive at our accommodation within the national park, we'll check-in and have some time to freshen up. Don't get too settled yet though, as we'll soon head out for our first sunset session at a location nearby.
Some of the highlights include:
- Harbours of Pehoe lake, including stony bays with a variety of foregrounds to choose from
- Panoramic view from Explora hotel
- Optional 1-hour hike to Mirador Condor with a stunning 360-view to Cuernos, Paine Towers, Lake Pehoe and Glacier Grey
- Hike to the Nordenskjold lake: we’ll see the dead forest on the way and plenty of small bays
- Salto Grande waterfall
- Rio Serrano Sector with wonderful bends of the river, gaucho and horses in the water
On one of the days, we will head to Lago Grey, for the full day excursion to the Grey Glacier. The cruise will take up to 4 hours.
We highly recommend that you get a travel and medical insurance. Your own domestic medical insurance and private health scheme will not cover you whilst you are overseas. The tour will always dependent on weather, as the weather can be highly unpredictable.
