Witness the magical glow of the Midnight Sun in Norway's Lofoten Islands on this 7-day summer photography workshop!

The Midnight Sun is an extraordinary natural phenomenon which occurs north of the Arctic circle during the summer season. It is a time when the sun barely skims the horizon as it sets, before it rises once again to bathe the landscapes in its golden light. The result is a period of 24-hour daylight, which means you'll have all the more time to practice your photography.

If you are looking to advance your landscape photography skills in the rugged beauty of nature, then there is no better place to do so than in Lofoten. During this workshop, you'll find yourself basking in the warm rays of sunlight as the fields come alive with wildflowers amidst lush green valleys. Meanwhile, the deep fjords that surround this archipelago in the Norwegian sea will glitter turquoise beneath the sun, set against a spectacular backdrop of mountain peaks framing pristine Arctic beaches.

For the duration of this tour, we'll stay up late to capture the magnificent landscapes as sunsets that last for hours blend seamlessly into beautiful sunrises. You'll have an expert photo guide with you at all times to ensure that you'll be at all the right places to take advantage of the lighting conditions, so that you can rest assured that you'll return home with improved skills and a breathtaking portfolio of images.

Don't miss out on the summer adventure of a lifetime in Norway's Lofoten Islands! Check availability by choosing a date.

Day 2 - 3: Arctic Beaches

The Lofoten Islands boast some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet and at the heart of it all are its incredible beaches. With golden sands, sparkling blue water and mountainous backdrops, these beaches are a paradise for landscape photographers. For the next two days, you'll be based in Leknes. From there, you'll make your way around Lofoten's most picturesque beaches, capturing them beneath the extraordinary light of the Midnight Sun. At Uttakleiv beach, there are many rockpools to explore along the coastline. Under the right conditions, they can glisten like jewels. If you're lucky, you may even stumble across the famous "Uttakleiv avocado" – a rockpool that resembles this tasty fruit! Meanwhile at Haukland, the sister beach of Uttakleiv, you'll find tranquil scenery that will captivate your senses. Once named Norway's best beach, this stretch of sand is sheltered from the wind with mountains all around. Another beach that you'll visit is Unstad, where the surf can be mighty! On any given day, you'll have the chance to capture surfers as they brave the waves that crash against the shore. If you'd prefer to focus on nature instead, then a variety of smooth boulder-like rocks sit upon the beach, making for wonderful subjects to practice wave-painting. At Vareid beach, jagged mountain peaks in the distance are the perfect backdrop for stunning, colourful rocks along the coastline. You'll have plenty of time to spend here, searching for endless compositions as the Midnight Sun takes hold. Last but not least, a favourite on the bucket lists of many photographers who visit Lofoten is Skagsanden beach. This is where the tides retreat to reveal a litany of awe-inspiring patterns across the sand. They make for incredible leading lines into the mountains in the distance. Aside from beaches, you'll also visit Ballstad, the largest fishing town in Lofoten. Its pretty harbour is a charming subject for photography, made all the more beautiful by the light of the Midnight Sun.

Day 4 - 6: Reine

On day four, we'll have some time to sleep in and a lazy morning before checking out of our hotel in Leknes. From there, we'll begin the journey towards the traditional fishing village of Reine, which will be our base for the next three days. This is where red cabins dot the landscape, like a scene out of a fairytale. We'll spend our days exploring these gorgeous stilted huts along the edge of Reinefjord as we chase the golden light of the Midnight Sun. Best of all, we'll be staying in very cosy cabins at the fishing village of Hamnøy, with communal living spaces and a friendly atmosphere. All we'll have to do is to step outside and there will be stunning compositions ready to be captured with magnificent mountain peaks in the background. There is a lot to explore in this area, so we'll make the most of the never ending daylight, travelling around the fjords and hamlets. Among some of the highlights that we'll photograph include the historical region of Flakstad, the spectacular Fredvang bridges, sprawling views of Nusfjord fishing village and of course, reflections of mountains in the beautiful bay of Selfjord.
