Daily itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 - July 27 - Arrival in São Luís

You’ll arrive at São Luís International Airport, where you'll meet the group and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, we'll gather for a welcome meeting to get to know each other and walk through the plan for the week ahead.

Day 2

Day 2 -

After breakfast, we begin our journey to Barreirinhas, the gateway to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours. Once we arrive, you'll check in at Porto Preguiças Resort, a peaceful spot to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. For those eager to start photographing right away, optional scenic flights over the dunes and lagoons of the park may be available in the afternoon.

Day 3

Day 3 -

We start the day with a sunrise shoot near Barreirinhas, capturing the soft morning light on the landscape. Later in the day, those who haven't yet taken a flight will have another opportunity for aerial photography. In the afternoon, we continue our journey by driving to Santo Amaro, a charming village nestled deeper in the park, where we’ll stay for the night.

Day 4 -

An early morning departure brings us into the heart of Lençóis Maranhenses for a full day of photography. We’ll explore the otherworldly dunes and turquoise lagoons, capturing their textures and colors as they shift with the light. After returning to the village for breakfast, we’ll head out again in the afternoon for more shooting. When night falls, we’ll venture out for an unforgettable astrophotography session under pristine, star-filled skies.

Day 5 -

Today begins your immersive photographic journey through the surreal landscapes of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. You’ll wake early to greet the day with a sunrise shoot, capturing the soft golden light as it spills across the sweeping dunes and glistening lagoons. After this inspiring start, return to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast. The afternoon will be spent diving deeper into the park, exploring new vantage points and refining your compositions as the light changes. As evening approaches, you’ll travel to a small, remote village nestled within the park—an ideal setting for astrophotography. Under the pristine night sky, you’ll have the chance to capture breathtaking images of the Milky Way, guided by our expert photographer Anselmo Hoffmann. You’ll spend the night at a charming hotel in Santo Amaro.

Day 6

Day 6 -

You’ll start the day with another stunning sunrise photography session in the heart of the park, where the soft morning light transforms the dunes and lagoons into an ethereal dreamscape. After capturing the early magic, you’ll return to the village for a hearty breakfast. The day continues with a visit to the mysterious Black River, a place known for its surreal, abstract patterns, rich colors, and unique natural textures—perfect for creating striking, artistic compositions. Following lunch back in the village, you’ll head out once again into the dunes for an unforgettable sunset session, as golden light spills across the landscape. When night falls, take advantage of the clear, unpolluted skies for another opportunity to dive into astrophotography. You’ll spend the night once more at your comfortable hotel in Santo Amaro.

Day 7

Day 7 - August 2: Departure

On the final day of your photographic adventure, you’ll rise early for one last sunrise session, capturing the golden light as it dances across the dunes and glistens on the tranquil lagoons—an unforgettable farewell to this surreal landscape. After the shoot, you'll return to Santo Amaro to freshen up and pack before beginning the drive back to São Luís. We’ll ensure you arrive at São Luís International Airport (SLZ) by 2 PM for your flight home. This thoughtfully designed itinerary strikes the perfect balance between immersive photographic opportunities and meaningful encounters with the unique culture and landscapes of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. The focus throughout the workshop is on helping you create a strong portfolio of images—each one a stunning piece of art worthy of printing and sharing. Lençóis remains one of the last untouched gems of nature, offering a pure and inspiring environment for creativity.

Iurie Belegurschi is an award-winning fine art nature and landscape photographer, as well as the founder of Iceland Photo Tours.

Born in Moldova, Iurie developed an interest in photography from an early age after his uncle converted the family bathroom into a darkroom.

Iurie moved to Iceland in 2006. Drawn in by the incredible light and landscapes, he began traveling the country, with the camera in hand, in search of inspiration and honing his skills. Continually winning awards in international photography competitions, his images have been published and put on display in a number of leading publications and exhibitions.

In 2012 Iurie founded Iceland Photo Tours, with the ambition of sharing the many wonders Iceland has to offer with passionate photographers from around the world.
