8-Day Autumn Photo Workshop in Norway's Lofoten Islands

On day one, you'll arrive to Harstad airport no later than 10:45am, where you'll be met by your photo guides. From there, you'll be transported to your hotel, where you will drop off your belongings before heading back out to commence the adventure. There is nothing more beautiful than the first light of dawn on the Lofoten Islands. We'll aim to cover as many sites as possible during the workshop, as well as sunrises, sunsets and the Northern Lights. Please note that there is no fixed itinerary on this tour. Rather, your guides will continually monitor the weather to ensure that you'll be at all the best locations to make the most of the prevailing conditions and light. If the skies are clear and there is Aurora activity at night, then you'll no doubt be out and about, with your eyes trained to the stars! Highlights of this workshop include but are not limited to: - Meeting the rays of the sun at one of Lofoten's scenic beaches, where pristine white sands meet the waves of the ocean. - Visiting the famous Uttakleiv and Haukland beaches. While next to one another, they are separated by a huge mountain, meaning that conditions will vary depending on which side you are on. With mountainous fjords all around, these two beaches make for the perfect location to witness the Northern Lights, should they dance above in the night sky. Uttakleiv is also well-known for its famous smooth rocks and tidal pools, which make for a variety of interesting foregrounds. - Unstad, where large waves pound the shore, drawing away in long lines from the boulders that sit half immersed in the sand. It's a wonderful location to practice wave-painting and long exposure techniques. Keep your eye out for surfers, who may ride the waves, even on dreary days! - Vareid, a beach which offers up many dynamic compositions, with a myriad of rock pools and leading lines to explore. - Skagsanden beach, one of the most famous in Lofoten, where intriguing patterns weave their way across the sand at low tide. - Fishing village of Ballstad, where brightly coloured fishing cabins dot the lush landscape. - Fishing village of Reine, one of the most iconic locations for photography in the Lofoten Islands. This is where traditional fishing cabins known as 'rorbuer' stand on stilts above the shoreline of the fjord. - Secluded fishing villages of Flakstad and Nusfjord. There will be the opportunity to take short hikes for stunning views of the surrounds. - Famous Fredvang bridges that overlook the Norwegian Sea and which make for stunning aerial photography. If you have a drone, then this is the best place to fly with it! - The stunning Selfjord. There are many vantage points which offer expansive vistas of the bay. We'll make sure to capture it while preserving some of our energy to spend on the inevitable chase for the Northern Lights during the night!
