A helicopter tour over the majestic Snæfellsnes peninsula is the perfect way to take in its magical landscapes. In many ways Snæfellsnes is Iceland in a nutshell: Dramatic coastlines, imposing mountains, icy peaks and more than a whiff of volcanic activity.
The area doesn’t exactly need any more publicity, but within the novel “A Journey to the Centre of the Earth”, Jules Verne genuinely wrote that Snæfellsnes was the first step to getting there.
And it’s easy to see why. With the mighty volcanic glacier of Snæfellsjökull and lava fields all around contrasting with lush pastures and fertile hills, this place is really something.
From above, it’s a sight to behold. On this helicopter tour we’ll skirt along the shoreline, capture the magnificent landscapes in as much detail as possible, marvel at the quaint fishing villages along the northern coastline and gaze down at the islands in the bay of Breiðafjörður Depending on the weather and conditions, we will make landings at scenic spots, and also enjoy a refreshment stop at our favourite country hotel. All in all, we should be flying for around four hours.
