A NEW ZEALAND EXPERIENCE – Journey to Aotearoa

Welcome to the home of the LORD OF THE RINGS, a landscape where abundant beauty exists 360 degrees and goes on for miles and miles. Visit the Majestic Southern Alps, Pristine Blue Lakes, The Famous Willow Trees and Valleys of the South Island, Captivating coastlines all the way to the Winding Fjords of Milford on a 10-day Photographic Journey with Landscape Photographers Christian Lim and Iurie Belegurschi. Iurie brings the richness of his landscape and night photography experience from Iceland to down under to guide you in capturing one of a kind landscape images, Christian provides his deep understanding of New Zealand terrain, locations and light conditions during different seasons to ensure that you are always at the right spot at the right time, having spent the bulk of his Landscape Photography Career focused on New Zealand.

Day 1, Arrival

You will land at Christchurch International Airport where you will be picked up by our guides at the arrival area. We’ll check in at the arrival hotel and head out for dinner at 7pm. There we will get to know each other, discuss our itinerary and the exciting days ahead of us. Here you will get an overview of the tour and what to expect from each location in terms of terrain, weather, best spots to photograph as well as things to do during your freetime. We will be sharing opening tips on how to capture great landscape photos as well as instructions and guidance on how to make full use of your Photographic Equipment. Overnight in Christchurch.

Day 2 & 3

LAKE TEKAPO, THE CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPERD, CANTERBURY FLATS, LAKE ALEXANDRINA
A 4 hour drive through the majestic scenery of the Southern Alps awaits you as we make our journey to the Mckenzie Basin, home of Lake Tekapo and the famous Church of the Good Sheperd. It is but fitting that we begin our adventure with a stunning drive that engages your eyes in fabulous scenery and landscape. Considered one of the best places for astrophotography, this is an ideal location for sunrise, sunset and night shooting. During autumn the landscape changes dramatically as the trees and leaves shift from green to yellow and gold. Abundant photo opportunity arises beneath a backdrop of the snowcapped ranges, pristine blue lake water with golden trees and foliage. Our hotel is located conveniently on the lakeside where morning, afternoon and even late night strolls are a must.

Day 3 & 4

MOUNT COOK, THE HOOKER RIVER, THE TASMAN GLACIER
Mount Cook and Mount Tasman are twin 12,000 foot peaks located in the Southern Alps, endless photographic possibilities for hundreds of square miles is what you can expect as we stay in Mount Cook National Park with Aoraki Mt. Cook right outside your door and window. The Hooker Glacier Lake is a 1:15hr one way easy-medium walk to reach the foot of Mount Cook and a mere 45 min one way to do photography along the raging Hooker River (for those who prefer a shorter walk). During autumn you will find a soft colors of foliage all over the landscape while being encapsulated in all angles by 9,000 to 12,000 foot ranges, the river changing from rapids, to reflection pools to mini waterfalls as you transverse its different angles. We will also be visiting the Tasman Glacier Lookout where you can stand on top of the west face of the National Park and catch an Alpen Glow sunrise. The Tasman Lake – River , during the right moments, feature huge Glacier Ice dropping into the lake forming crystal clear fragments towards a raging river. (indeed a one of a kind scenery) Both locations are an easy 25 minute (one way) walk from the carpark.

Day 5 - 7

QUEENSTOWN, GLENORCHY, LAKE WANAKA, MOKE LAKE
From Day 5 -7 we head out to amazing Otago where adventure lovers will just fall in love with Beautiful Queenstown, recreational activities such as Bungee, River Darting & Skydiving await the daring. We will be staying across Lake Wakatipu which is the largest lake in New Zealand where you can do lakeshore photography by just crossing the street. While in Queenstown, we will be doing a sunrise session at the Famous Wanaka Tree, The still reflections of Glenorchy, The Dart River and its multiple Willow Trees, some Moody landscapes as well at a secret location in Moke Lake Road, as well as an overlooking panoramic view on top of Central Otago. There is an ever dynamic vibe in this Southern City, famous local culinary treats such as Fergburger await you, as well as great finds through the local shopping district where you can find anything from souvenirs , outdoor and indoor fashion.

Day 8 & 9

FIORDLAND NATIONAL PARK, DUNEDIN, MOERAKI BOULDERS
Day 8 – 9 Promises to be an exciting end to a great adventure as we visit Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park, here you will see the famous Mitre Peak and even go on the Milford Cruise (optional), the wide expanse of Fjordal real estate greats you from all angles. Here we will be photographing sunrise and sunset to catch both waves and reflections from incoming and outgoing tide. Fiordland is a must photograph spot for both sunset and sunrise as the light along the fjords vary from morning and evening providing different kinds of drama. We will also be visiting the famous Mirror Lakes of Fiordland as well as find opportunities to engage the KEA, which is the smartest Alpine Bird in the world. Our last photographic stops are is a stay in Dunedin as we move closer back to Christchurch and visit the pristine seascapes of the east coast at St Claire Beach, here we will capture dynamic landscape images as thunderous waves engulf the iconic pieces of the East Coast.

Day 10

Christchurch
On Day 10 we will drive out early morning from Dunedin on the Sunrise East Coast of the South Island as we make our way back. Our last visit will be a stop at the Famous Moreaki Boulders, large spherical sea boulders located on the Pacific Ocean side of New Zealand bathed with crashing waves and fiery morning color. Sunrise begins at 7am so it will be an early morning 45 min drive from Dunedin, shortly thereafter sunrise and breakfast at the Moreaki Café will head back to Christchurch as you gaze upon the lovely east coast landscapes we will be stopping for photo opportunities when possible and target to arrive by mid-afternoon. You may arrange your outbound flights the day after, or as you see fit.

Day 11

Departure
After a good breakfast at your hotel you will depart to Christchurch International Airport for your flight home.

Iurie Belegurschi


Iurie Belegurschi is an award winning fine art nature and landscape photographer. He was born in Moldova, but moved to Reykjavik in Iceland in 2006 to study tourism and hospitality. Iurie is the leading photography guide and workshop instructor in Iceland, and his tours are much sought after both by locals and international clients. In addition to running photography tours, his unique and jaw-dropping landscape photos have been published worldwide in books, calendars, ad campaigns, commercials and even found their way to highly esteemed newspapers such as The Daily Mail, The Independent, The Sun, The Huffington Post and The Telegraph to mention just a few.

Iurie’s two main passions in life are photography and travelling. He is a big fan of winterscapes and night photography, with the latter being his most desired activity.
Capturing starry nights and the elusive Aurora Borealis is something that gives him a sense of fulfillment and peace. Living in Iceland and having this interest, is a match made in heaven.

Iurie co-founded the hugely popular Guide To Iceland platform. This website is the go-to website for all things related to Icelandic tourism. This platform is currently expanding, and Iurie and his team are working hard to establish similar solutions in Norway, New Zealand, Italy, Greenland and the Asian market.

Christian Lim


Christian Lim is a professional landscape photographer from the Philippines and is considered one of the finest practitioners in numerous photo sites and has had numerous features in Digital Photographer & Digital Camera from the UK. By Profession, he is a Marketing Director for a Multinational Conglomerate but has now started to devote his time to inspire and mentor photography enthusiasts. It has only been 4 years since he took up landscapes and his meteoric rise has been mostly due to his exploits in New Zealand. He has an extensive portfolio in different terrain and seasons taken from Iceland, the Western United States, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, the United Kingdom, Taiwan and his native Philippines including cityscape photography in Singapore, France, Hong Kong & Manila. He has also mentored landscape enthusiasts residing in Manila, Auckland, Wellington and London during his comprehensive photo workshops for basic and advanced photographers.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel and the Workshop is otherwise filled, we will refund you the full amount you have paid towards the tuition, minus a $300 service charge. If you cancel and the Workshop does not fill, then you will be refunded according to the following schedule, based on the full fee of the Workshop:

Refund Policy

Greater than 60 days from the start date of the Workshop: full refund minus $150 fee.
45 days: 75% refund
30 days: 50% refund
Less than 30 days: no refund

Refunds will be paid by the same method that the original payment was made.
Refunds will be initiated within 72 hours of the time that the request is approved.
