“Cinque Terre”, or “Five lands”, are five wonderful coast-towns on the Italian Riviera: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare. Buildings climb the steep coastal cliffs like anthills, with bright colorful walls, picturesque alleys, and small, cozy gourmet restaurants. Since 1997, when UNESCO recognized Cinque Terre as a World Heritage Site, this tiny place became increasingly popular, but because November is considered off-season it’s an ideal time for seaside shooting and relaxation.

Every day, we’ll shoot sunrises and sunsets in a different part of this coastal paradise, moving between the towns by a high-speed train: car travel here is practically nonexistent but a train ride from one settlement to another takes mere minutes.

Daily itinerary

Day 1
Italian Riviera 6 Day Photography Tour | Cinque Terre - day 1

Day 1 - Arrival

We pick you up from the Pisa airport at 7pm and take a train to La Spezia. The ride takes just a little over an hour but after all hustle and bustle of an airport, you feel like you’ve stepped into another reality, one of medieval coastal villages, salty breezes, and sea. Here, in Manarola, we’ll live for the whole workshop, without having to move our luggage between towns! Dinner at the hotel finishes our itinerary for the day.

We get up well before dawn to be on time for a blue hour shooting session in Manarola, when the city lights are still on. Then breakfast and a master class in photo processing, or a discussion of architecture and urban landscape photography. Then we’ll have a free time until lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll take a famous Via dell’Amore, or “Lovers’ walk” to Riomaggiore for an evening shoot and a dinner.
